Ladies (and Gentlemen), help me work out a jacket for my fia

OK, I was knocked-out this morning when my US-based fiancee (she goes to college in North Carolina), said she'd happily wear an Indy jacket.

Wow. So glad I'm marrying this woman!

So now I want to get her one in time for Christmas. Here are some questions and I hope the ladies here can help from personal experience, if not the gentlemen who might have been in my shoes before, or remember other people's experiences.

1) Which movie jacket is best? Even though I am a total LC snob, I would assume Raiders for a lady because of the smaller collar?

2) Measurements, measurements, measurements! Are there any specific measurements or directions I should be feeding through to Peter?

3) Refresh my memory on any little extras it might be cool to get that aren't standard, eg: x-box stitching. It's been a few years since I ordered mine!

4) Anything else I should be thinking of? I want to nail her the perfect Indy jacket, first time. I want her to be so excited and happy with it!

i believe this was discussed already....a ladies cut wested. elodie jones has one from what i recall. i'm sure peter does these custom jobs. do a search and ye shall find

She wants a perfect ladies Indy? I'd say go for a lambskin Raiders unless she gets cold easily, (ask for a ladies' cut!) with a silver zipper (which you may have to send them), rectangular sliders, x-box stitching, and one-piece underarm gussets.

Good pick!! My girlfriend was happy to take my Cotton Wested when I said I was getting rid of it. I think I'm in pretty good shape too - she totally supports the collecting.

raiders got the flare of nostalgia but LC has got the whole "latest and greatest" thing working for it IMO.....i prefer raiders/TOD stuff

unfortunately we don't have access to the screen used jackets. the specs were pretty much put together from studies of screen grabs and pictures.

_, how'z about an input to revising these specs based on what you've seen? will you address these issues in your jacket write up?

Actually it would be cool to see some pics of the female jackets. And I personally want to thank you guys for putting the bug in my ear to get something like this for my wife....sheesh....once again there is no money I can posess without some indy item taking it away....

I'd say that based on the jacket I got I did pretty darn good seeing as that I wasn't lucky enough to inspect any screen used jackets.

I intended no slight on the specs. Again - I've gone back and taken more than a few ganders at that jacket of yours, Agent5. I like it...

You're the only one I know who's been able to take direct measurements of a screen used jacket, even if it was of an ever so slightly different design than the hero jacket. The rest of us who will most likely never get so lucky have to wing it. I was surprised that so many took to my specs like flies to dung since they were always meant to be subjective. I just did what was right for me and my size, the way I saw it. Just as we always have around here.

Sounds like there are some interesting times ahead. One thing I'd like to say, meanwhile, is that as an ex member of the 501st (a group dedicated to costuming the Empire side of Star Wars), Lucasfilm was always extremely fair, and bent over backwards with people making costumes -- even those who were pulling Stormtrooper armour off original film-used armour sets. Because the licensing people aren't crazy -- they understand that a little goodwill with fans and their costuming efforts can go a long, long, long way. Indeed, there was a recent event where Lucasfilm flew people from numerous 501st garrisons from around the world to the US to take part in a big costumed event, so they don't just tolerate it, they actively encourage and spend money on fandom, too!

I saw the 501st at a recent Fan Convention in Toronto. On their display table they had what sure liked to be a legit issues 501st action figure. Perhaps it was a mock up but how is that for the ultimate acceptance - your own groups kenner action figure.

Oh yeah, that was real alright. As a tribute to the 501st, Lucasfilm also decreed that those clone troopers that Anakin Skywalker leads into the Jedi Temple to kill all the Jedi inside are actually the 501st. Uncle George, himself, is also an honourary member of the organisation. The 501st has MASSIVE Lucasfilm support, and I was really proud and excited to be a member for some time.

That makes it more impressive for sure. Very nice looking figure and the costumes - wow. Must be incredibly uncomfortably though and how on earth do you see out the helmet? Give me an Indy Jacket anyday - more comfortable and you can actually wear it to work. It is good to know that there is Lucasfilm support for fan communities.

Ah, Canada, see I was one of the clever ones. I was an Imperial Officer, decked from head to toe in a very wearable two piece uniform with big black boots

I remember one of our outings was to Fox Studios, Sydney, where they were previewing the new (at the time) Star Wars box set to the media.

I got to sit down and enjoy the preview and speeches whilst all my armour-clad mates had to stand at the back of the room because they couldn't sit!

_, indeed they have shut down some of the more over-zealous types. I think they strike a pretty good balance between the two because, let's face it, it's a pretty thankless kind of job, and probably lots of line-ball decisions to be made. I sense that they err on the side of caution and only strike when it's clear that someone's going above and beyond what is decent.

And you were CFO at Wizards, pre-Hasbro? Great company. Have enjoyed many of its games over the years. An Indy game would have rocked the house down!

Good thinking on the costume. SOunds like a great opportunity. Too bad Lucasfilm does not invite all us gear heads to the Indy preview. i think we would all gladly stand if it would help.
