Western Stage Props price jump??
I don't know who makes WSP Indy whips.. but when and why did the price jump to $500 for the FIVE footer??? last time I remember seeing them they were a #### of a lot cheaper than that.

Wow, I just re-checked the WSP website and 5 footers really are $500. Holy cow
I do know a couple of things that could explain the price increase. First, the price of kangaroo hide has gone up. Second, lots of whips get sold around Halloween to be used as a part of an Indy Halloween costume. So WSP might be raising prices in response to the Halloween demand.
Last year a few WSP whips got resold on Ebay right after Halloween.
ztmario,
I saw your comment about your dislike of 4-plait whips. They're not for everyone, and do look simple when compared to a 12-plait whip. The IOAB whips are more meant to fit a price range, and are also good for those wanting to learn whip cracking.
If Gus can get you a whip in 3 days, I'd say that's the fastest that you will get a whip from anyone. I used make 12-plait whips, though I stopped taking orders for them because I'm really backed up with my whipmaking as it is.

oh, don't get me wrong.. I understand that the IOAB whips are just what they are.. whips for a budget. and I've read nothing but great things about them all over the forum. but since I'm willing to spend a little more than $100, I'm not really considering the 4 plait for myself. and TRUST me.. I've spent more than enough time on your site contemplating getting a full blown roo-hide indy whip. I figure since my first whip was 80, if my next one is 160, a few months from now I should be willing to spend the 300+ to get the real thing.winrichwhips wrote: ztmario,

Wow, It’s not just there Indy bullwhips either. It seems like almost all of their kangaroo hide whips have jumped considerably in price. This had to happen in the last week or so; I was just shopping with them last week and the prices where still normal. I’m pretty surprised, while It’s not uncommon for the cost of kangaroo hide whips to rise each year, usually by 50 or 60 dollars I have never seen such a large price increase like that.
Unfortunately, I’ve been noticing that the prices on the gear connected with this new movie is skyrocketing, wait till you see how much the bullwhip and jacket are going to cost when that news breaks. I doubt that it will do any good but all I can suggest is writing a polite letter to express your disappointment and concern with the current price increases. I know in this day and age everything costs more, but still that much of a sudden jump has got to affect there over all business. There are several whips I had been planning to order from them, that now I just don’t know it they are going to be worth and extra $200 to get.
