MKVII from Endicotts on the way!!!! (PICS ADDED!)
YAY!!! My first SA piece of gear is on the way! Kevin Endicott is a GREAT guy to work with! Recommend him to everyone looking for a bag...Kev describes the color as 'mid color but more towards green' I wonder what it will look like...I'm partially colorblind so....I couldn't tell green from brown
Anyway it ships tommorrow from England. Im guessing about a week til I actually get the bag.I cannot wait 8-[

The one under the flap was to secure an anti-dimming kit (MkVI for the MkVII bag) put down that pocket. (A small tin jar with a loop on the lid to put lanyard through it). The one opposite to the metal disc held the lanyard stuck down the pocket which would go around the soldier's waist when wearing the bag in the ready position. (Actually with the flap facing inwards, i.e. towards the chest).

For what it's worth...I picked one up just the other day. After the US conversion rate, it was around $42 shipped. Mint, unused condition and it got here in a week...much faster than I thought. Only minor thing is that it's a 1942 PSC version. Why do I mention this? The front snaps are different from all the others I've seen. They aren't smooth, but have a rough texture and a small "lip". Kinda weird. I'll probably just leave then as be, but the thought has crossed my mind to replace them...we'll see. BTW-Kevin was very pleasant to deal with and would highly recommend him.

Jedidentist;
Do they compare to the top one in this shot?
If so they are "Newey" ones and somewhat sought after, and I'd keep them if I were you. They were the standard snaps until sometime around 1942 it seems when the flat ones start showing up.
EDIT: Link to back of snap HERE.

Looks like #2, but I don't have the bag with me here at work...only my MK VI which has much more useful pockets. I probably won't change them because i would make more of a mess than if I just left it alone. I've been screwing around with these bags for years and i'm sick of it...I've got 2 Australian MKVIIs and an MKVI that i had to dye...stunk!

Couple of pics...
Just 'cause I had a little time and because I felt like it, here's what I received.
