Dark Knot?
I'm trying to decide since Bernie will be making my whip in a few days whether or not I want the knot on my whip to be darker than the rest of the whip. I saw one like it and liked it, but wanted to see what you all thought about it. Currently Bernie has been told to make it darker so if I decide to change my mind again I'll have to let him know soon. Here is a pic of a whip I found online that has the darker knot. Tell me what you think.

If your looking for screen acuraccy then get the knot slightly darker. You can see in Raiders the the knot is darker.(when indy coils the whip after whipping the gun out of barancca's hand) Personally I like the knot darker because it makes it more visible. I would keep the knot darker.
It gives the whip more character.....or something

My sentiments EXACTLY! Hear, hear, Magnum. The knot originally made by Morgan, was not braided with an artificially colored knot. Instead it got there gracefully over time. The knots, just become a little darker compared to the rest of the whip. The caveat is that if the knot is artificially made to be that much darker at birth, then it will be really, really dark much later. I'd say, leave it be, it will be more accurate.Magnum wrote:I've had a DM 10 footer for over six years and I must tell you that when it is new, all the leather is the same color, but after a while the knot becomes darker than the rest of the whip simply with use. So, it's your call, but it will end up like that in time without aging it.

Would it be too much trouble for one of you to take a picture of one of your whips so I can see what the knot looks like after having been used for a while. I'm trying to get as screen accurate a whip as possible, but I plan on using it a lot so it will get broken in with time. Thanks for a pic in advance and the insight given.
