What does ordering an 'L' actually do?

Post by Rob »

I'm curious what changes in Wested jackets when you order an 'L'?

I assume the body is a bit longer... but by how much?

And does it affect the arm length? Size of arm-holes? Anything like that?

Reason being, I'm going to order the Das Boot/Dr Who jacket and I'd love it to be a touch longer. Ordering an L will probably do this... but will it be MUCH longer... and could I request normal length arms on it?

I've never bought from Peter directly, but I would assume that getting a size Long would mean the same as with a suit, that the whole thing is longer for taller people with the same chest size. What I would recommend would be to ask for a longer body, rather than to ask for a Long with Regular arms. Hope this helps :)

I believe it is 1" longer in sleeves and 2" in body length - best check with Wested.

Mine was made 2" longer in sleevers and 4" in body length, but for some reason the shoulders wound up too big compared to an R size, which Peter then had adjusted.

You could always specify what length you want the jacket to be, I'm sure he would accommodate you.

hmmmm...when i ordered my jacket he didnt just ask what size i wore. They had me send in full custom measurements. Soulders, sleeve length, neck, waist, chest...everything. Is this something they no longer do? I just assumed they made the jackets to your specs.

They do both, really.

As I understand it, Wested has off-the-shelf numbers ready to go, as well as being open to taking one's individual measurements.
