noel howard....nothing else compares in my book. the only drawbacks are that his gear is extremely pricey, his whip holder doesn't work, and the buckle is not as SA as lee keppler's from what i hear.....but....he's noel howard

Just curious if anyone has figured out a way to get these to work...maybe making one into a non-slip. All i know is mine really drives me crazy when i try to put a whip in it. Any suggestions?
leather lace. tie your whip up with it, put it in the holder and then tie the holder up with another length of lace (or the same one if it's long enough)....do it right and it'll blend in with the fall
doesnt sound like the whip becomes very "user friendly" if you do it that way...at least if i am understanding you right. There a way to do it where the belt and whip still function as simply as they should? (that make sense)?
the NH whip loop is too large to hold a whip securely and the snap easily pops out with the slightest pressure. the whip holster was just meant to look pretty on screen and not really to function.
if you want a functioning whip holder, go with the non-slip whip holder. mola ram (a member here) made one for me and it works fantastic....'cept you do lose the screen accurate look.
kool...thanks G. I might have to try to dig a little and do a some dirt work of my own to see if i can't come up with something to turn the NH belt into a functional belt as well. After all, it does look good...might as well see if there is a way to get it to perform well as well. Will let you know if i can come up with something, but if not i will look into talkin to mola ram.
BTW that is SA and was an issue during production. He said they would tie it up with nylon or whatever. Of course they had the advantage of being able to do that for scenes where the whip was not being used.
I'd like to see a version of the non-slip holder that just works with the NH holder to prevent it popping open. (ie piece of brass tubing and a leather lace)
I own all of Keppler's leather gear and it's top notch. Great color, incredible accuracy and reasonably priced. PLUS you don't have to pay international shipping and customs!

P.S. Whip-slippage is a common problem regardless of who makes your gunbelt.
I use a special snap that stays closed. Just coil the whip until it fits"snugly" and you should have no problems. Actually, the way to carry a whip that makes sense is the Well of Souls scene with Marion and the torch. You grasp the handle and unsnap with your thumb. Then you have a one hand draw instead of having to use both hands.
As I have said many times before and will continue to say, Lee has the best quality leather gear I have ever seen or owned. I have had my holster, gunbelt, bag strap, and whip holder from him for years. They are tough, the leather is top notch, and they are made to really be used. A +
i found this shot the other day. it demonstrates the effectiveness of noel howard's whip holder. i found it when i was looking for a pic of how low indy wears his mk vii.
....it may not work...at all....but hey, it's a noel howard.....noel....he's the man
