Hi folks,
Has anyone here ordered the USWings Kangaroo?
My niece is turning 18 and graduating from high school. I want to get her a nice gift, and thought of getting her a jacket. I was looking at getting her the 'roo hide (okay, I wanted it for me, but I haven't fit in a small or medium for years ) It is supposed to be lighter in weight than the lamb, but tougher than the goat.
I know that Indiana Chris ordered it, but returned it because he didn't like the color. Anyone else see this and can comment? If the kangaroo hide isn't a good choice, then the door is open for another hide from them or from Wested or Flight Suits, but USWings is the only one offering this hide and if it's a good choice this could be an heirloom jacket.
Of course, it will probably be stolen her first semester at college, which happened to me years ago; I think my fixation with jackets now is due to never getting over that trauma
Best to all,
plynck

I got one for my birthday two years ago. The color is brown. Not that real dark brown/black of a wested. I don't know about it being red, or reddish though. It "breaks in" quickly and is very comfortable.
I guess it's pretty well known that "Roo" hide is very tough. My son has a Roo hide baseball glove that he has had for years and it's probably one of the best gloves I've ever seen (and I've seen several).

The original 'roo jackets did have a reddish tint, so you're remembering that right. _ had one, and his (as I recall) had that coloration, but apparently they've corrected that 'problem'. You didn't really notice it until you got it next to ANY other Indy jacket, then it jumped out at you as to how MUCH red tint was there.
As to her losing the jacket at college... not if she keeps an eye on it she won't. My eldest daughter graduates this May from UT, and has worn the same Wested Raiders jacket all those years with no loss. I was looking at it this past weekend while visiting her, and I had forgotten just how the old design used to look. MAN has Peter brought his jackets a long way forward from the design 4 years ago! Anyway, it can be done. (grins) Regards. Michaelson

The good thing about Wings is if you don't like it, you can return it for a refund, so there really is no hassle. As I stated in my post a while back, I was not happy with the cut or color. It is certainly a quality jacket as far as construction goes, I just prefer Wested and Flightsuits over them. The one I got was a really light reddish-brown, and there was an odd seam pattern on the sleeves. I was hoping to get a jacket that looked like _'s (pic's in jacket section of main page). Scratch that itch if you are so inclined, you can always return it! Best regards, Chris.

Sorry for the mis-information.

One of the Dallas WhipEnthusiasts had the Kangaroo USWings jacket that we saw recently. We compared his 'roo jacket with my own USWings goatskin Indy, and there is definately a big difference in color. My jacket is like Hersheys chocolate brown, while the kangaroo is a nice reddish color. I remember it being very soft, and possibly (if my memory serves me correctly), a little thinner than my goatskin.
I, personally, would like to have a kangaroo jacket. I just could not afford it when I bought mine. Whichever leather you choose, the USWings jackets are top-notch and very nice jackets.
