Anyone offering resin castings of the pre-war S&W Grips?

Just occurred to me, instead of paying outlandish prices for these, anyone willing to cast some up? I've got an airsoft I need these on. Anyone?

who's paying outlandish prices? I bought two sets of pre-war grips (rounded top with medallian etc) down at the dock of "the Bay" for around 15 bucks a piece not including shipping.

I think, Kaplan, he means "outlandish prices" in regards to what he'd use them for. I mean, which is better: 15 dollar pre-war grips, or 2 dollar casts?

Though.....15 dollars ain't really that bad a price.

find me someone who could cast perfect indy grips for $2 dollars. I think overhead, materials, equipment, labor, shipping, etc, would push the price over what original-style grips are going for these days. Of course, grips that look EXACTLY like the bapty grips would go for a pretty penny. These have a less common rounded medallian top which is concave. I'm not sure what they would go for, but they are hard to find. S&W has reintroduced these grips with their new model 22/1917. But the ones I bought for my model 10 look good enough, and they were relatively cheap.

I guess my original purpose behind the request is so that the correct grips would be easily available and yet not detract from the available supply. I mean, mine are going on an Airsoft gun. Part of me would like to think that grips that old wouldn't wind up being shelf warmers on some fake gun someplace.

I've seen several auctions for those grips go really high... like $50 or more. Quite a difference from $15.

That was the reason I ended up making my own grips for my replica. They're NOT screen accurate or anything but they work for what I have.

Of course, I'd rather have had the "original" ones.

The pre war grips for a N frame (HE triple lock) go for way more then the same style grips for a K frame (M&P model 10, Victory).
I paid $32 including shipping for grips for my M&P. Here's a completed auction that went for $137.50. Bob

Looking through the ads in the back of this months American Rifleman I found an ad for N.C. Ordinance.

They make replica grips for just about everything, including actual walnut for the Colt and Smith M1917s.

From reading their site www.gungrip.com it appears they can resin cast (in a walnut-like stainable finish) anything you might want. If it is repro medallion grips, check where the price break goes and get together a group-buy.

Try gungrips.com or vintagegungrips.com. There used to be a company in Castleberry, Fla that made them. I got a set for my father in law's old
S&W top break. It's been so long I do not have any info.
