10 foot Indy Whip for Television Show in Germany !Pic Heavy!

Post by midwestwhips »

Here is an Indy whip I finished last week for a company working on a Television show in Germany.

And here is a comparison shot with a Morgan:

They used Indygear and COW for their research.

I was told they have some Indy Magnoli Items as well for the show.

Do you know (or are allowed to tell so), for which show they are working?
Living in Germany I'm just curious and it would be a shame if I miss something so obviously Indy-related in the German TV.

The whip you made - btw - looks almost like a twin of the Morgan you showed as comparison. I do not know that much about whips, but it looks amazing!

Awesome. I use to have a black fall but the black wore out of it because it was poorly put on by the maker. So, how do you make the falls black and does it hurt it any? Because my fall always seemed dried out and flaky with the black on it.

Jens, do you remember the guy in our German forum a few weeks ago? He asked if anybody knows where to rent a bullwhip for a TV show. Maybe it was him. Can´t find the thread at the moment.

BTW, nice looking whip. =P~

First off: NICE WHIP!! I really like how it looks with the black fall.

Secondly: What show is it? Sure, I don't get German TV, but I'm still curious.

I found the thread. But it was in January already when he posted. He wanted to buy or rent a bullwhip for Crazy Race 4. I searched the net and found out that the show should have been shot in February already. I couldn´t find out more.

Hi Jens,

I'm not sure if I am allowed to talk about the show, but it is Indy related. I will find out if I can tell you any more details about the show. I will try to find out information on when it will air and on what station.

It would be great if someone would be able to tape the show for me.

I will get more info and share what I can with you all.

Moses and WhipDude,

The black fall was requested so it would show up easier on video. They also picked up a spare white fall to change for screen accuracy.

The colored falls do need a bit more greasing than normal. The dye drys out the oils in the leather, so they need to be replenished. Usually the falls are cut then beveled, and then dyed dry. After that they are greased heavily, and then rounded, and greased again.

Thanks for the compliments everyone! I'll keep you all posted about the show.

Regards,

Paul Nolan

Just let us know ...

Here's a 7ft in saddle tan that I was asked to make for the same show.
I'm told the show is about film props that are available through the internet and there will be some whipcracking featured.

Here is an update on the German T.V. Show.

They called again a few weeks ago. I was told the Producer and Director liked my 10 foot so much, "they decided to extend the Paul Nolan whip segment." So they ordered an 8 foot and a 6 foot. Here are some pics I snapped before shipping them out:

A few days ago I was sent photos that were taken on set, during the filming of the 6 foot whip. Here are a few of them:

Unfortunately the only pictures they were able to take to send me from the set were of the 6 foot. Still I thought they turned out really nice! I really hope there is some way I will be able to see the show.

Whiskeyman,

The 7 foot looks great! I have heard that a few Indy whip makers were asked to make them for the show. I am guessing they are showing all the options there are. Either way it should be interesting. They are supposed to tell me when it is going to air. I hope they do, and I will post here when I find out.
