My new Federation
I guess while I am in a posting mood I will put forth a photo of my new regular Federation.
I was trying for a Young Indiana Jones style. I ran across this photo of a hat FEDORA made for this gentleman, and I really liked it.
Akubra makes a great hat. Also since I didnt put the tight pinch in I have a little room to work with in the future, should I try for another style.
I really like this look and may holler at FEDORA for an Adventurebilt in this style to go along with my Raiders style AB.

No Indycop, all I did was work the brim in my hands a little and it snappedIndycop wrote:Did you have to do anything to your brim to get it to go down or did it just snap down? I got mine yesterday (post akubras thread) and I think i'm gonna use the distilled water to get it to lay down.
down like you see in the photo.
As to the bashing I would try dry bashing first, I did have a little discoloration on my side dents from using water there. After wearing the hat for awhile you do not notice it now. Also I sprayed Scouts Rain and Stain on it.
What style are you going for on your New Federation?

The only real preference I have is to end up with the tight pinch. Other than that I'm not too picky about it. I did try to work the brim down but it seemed to ba alive. I put it down it comes back up. I ended up using distilled water this morning before I went to bed. It still doesn't drop that much. When I wet the brim on. My PB it went right down.
I must say though it is definitely softer that my PB.

Indycop - you've got an ornery one there. Just don't let it win! Show it who's boss. If you sit to watch tv for a while, wet it and hold it down while you watch tv for a while. 5 to 10 minutes should do the trick. As for the tight crease, if you want to do it dry (to avoid discoloration from the water) you should work at it slowly over a couple of weeks, until you've trained.
Russell I must say, you've really captured the YIJC look. Way to go!

I finally got the brim how I wanted and my wife says I should make the back droop instead of curling up! so I worked at it for awhile and now it can be worn curled up a little or drooped. It just snaps either way without affecting the front!Chewbacca Jones wrote:Indycop - you've got an ornery one there. Just don't let it win! Show it who's boss.
