This type of thing makes me wonder what all really is out there being offerred for sale, including things the members of this forum have not yet discovered. The first things that jump out at me here is the snap closure on the sleeves and the HUGE zipper tab.

It's awesome to see fellow Indy fans out finding items like this, however, I feel bad for anyone who might unknowingly spend that amount of money, almost enough to simply buy a Wested, only to find out later that this immitation is not even Screen Accurate. :x

You can find some great advice here from the members of this forum, most probably better than mine. However, I'll throw out my advice anyway.

In order to avoid going off on a tangent about all the possibilities and possible uses of a jacket, I'll simply say that I purchased a Vintage Cow jacket from US Wings a few years ago and have been very pleased with it. I love its durability and appearance. However, I also know that there are many jackets out there that are more screen accurate.

Maybe it would help if you threw out a little more information regarding what aspect of the hobby interests you. Are you looking for this as a costume for one in a while? If so, there may be some cheaper alternatives. Are you looking for this as something you're going to wear everyday? Does one particular movie style interest you?

As you can see, there are a lot of variables to consider. Some things to think about and possibly discuss.

Don't forget that many a Wested isn't screen acurate either - there are many posts on this. It all depends on what people want.

An excellent point. However, at least with the Wested problems, most have to do with the extreme attention to detail that we demand here. Things like the leather.com jacket irritate me because the snap closures on the cuffs and the huge zipper pull aren't slight inaccuracies, they are blatantly wrong. And that's ok if the customer knows this but making a "close enough jacket", which is basically what this is, and advertising it as an 'Indiana Jones Jacket" is downright deceptive in my opinion.

But also keep in mind that all the jackets in any one movie aren't necessarily identical to each other, either. There's visual proof of jackets in Raiders both with and without gussets, so yes, it really does depend on what you want.

Sorry guys, but looking at that 'jacket' I am again reminded that research really IS everything.

What I want to know is what the heck is a "inside gun/map pocket"? :D

Well, remember that Wested advertises as being based "off the original patterns", while leather.com's site is advertising an "Indiana Jones inspired" jacket, which means that while the former NEEDS to be downright anal about the little details, the latter has more creative freedom.

I mean, would you be shortchanged if you saw a Shakespeare-inspired movie for example? For that matter, you gotta remember that Indy himself was inspired by the serials of yore- which, while he was faithful to them, he was not an exact copy. ;)

If you're gonna buy stock anyway you'll have it pretty quick in case you want a Wested and you're size is ready to go. (Within a week)

Back to Department

The Indiana Jones Leather Bomber Jacket is made along the military lines of the A2 Air Force. It departs from the A2 because of its plain bottom and leather cuffs. Also the Indy has a long pleated action back that is drawn in at the waist with side straps. The front pockets are double with hidden side entry. Inside there are two pockets an inside breast pocket as well as a gun/map pocket. Please allow 3-4 weeks to make up
I certainly don't mean to be rude or anything but I don't see the word inspired in there anywhere.

Good job. You know the history behind it, and it's creator/producer is a fellow member of this community, so you can research the heck out of it. Well done!
