####, you've all converted me. I used to be a big LC bash fan, specifically the motorcycle chase, but after reading these threads the past few months I've come to love the Raiders hats.
I had to vote for the poster because it's the only time that the bashes and angles can be so over exaggerated without looking bad.
idol grab....its where we first see the raiders turn in effect.
one thing that wasn't listed was the rotla waterfall hat....no turn, even snap brim look....i consider this to be the dressy raiders hat...or his travelling hat....which is the same BROWN hat...{jumps under plymouth}
Nothing beats a good rough and tumble, down and dirty, dust and sand covered Cairo fedora. It's almost a metaphor for Indy himself. It gets battered, beaten and dirty but still manages to come through it all in one piece. It's the quintessential Indy fedora.
I like the curly brim with the tight pinch. Almost like a cross between LC and Raiders. I don't like my brim to be too wide on my face because it makes my head look really narrow, so the curly brim is my thing. The Well of the Souls bash does just that for me. I love that bash!
Hey AC, if you had to choose, what scene would you say best represents the bash of your awesome Herbie J? now THAT thing has character, and you wear it very well.
Yeah, AC's HJ is OK. Well, better than OK, but the letters worked. It might not satisfy the SA junkies or have the "I dare you to try and destroy me" durability of the beaver hats... but the felt is really just right for capturing the essence of the Raiders hat. AC knows his way around the thing well enough that I'd never peg his HJ as an HJ based on the look alone. So that tells me that the hat deserves a second chance from those who've dismissed it.
Not in the least. The Raven Bar is much more closely related to the Streets of Cairo hat, although it's brim has a bit more of a swoop. Also, the Raven has a relatively strong turn to it, while the idol grab has hardly any turn at all. Then there's also the reverse taper, which we see a hint of in the Raven bar, whereas the idol grab's sides are as straight as a stove pipe. :junior: -IJ
