$17.50 Indy Shirt
New member here. I got the Indy bug when I first saw the movies. I have made several 1/6 scale Indies. My Avatar is a sample. Here is a pair of shirt I recently made. I found a white cotten shirt for $9.99 on clearance and bought 3 of 'em. I cannibalized one for the epaulettes, buttons and front trim, then dyed according to DALEXS's formula. Since the shirt was white to start, I didn't need to remove any color.
Final result - 2 Indy shirts for a total of $35.00, including the dye, and some 5 hours of sewing and dyeing! I know the pocket flaps are not quite right - I'll have to do something about that sometime.

I found a shirt almost exactly like that at Target the other day (except short sleeved). Oddly enough, I was browsing for an Indy shirt when I found it. anyway, I recognized the hook on the back of your shirt was the same as mine, and I found your shirt online (at least I think it's your shirt).

That's the one - they had them clearanced, so I went back and got 3 more to fix up when I get the chance. I fixed the epaulettes on the first 2, as well, so now they are a lot closer.

quick questions:
which DALEX formula did you use, the one on his web page, or the revised version posted a while back?
i.e.
is it the 4:3 pearl gray: tan or something different?
and
did the thread take on the new color also? or did the thread remain white?
how do the buttons look with the new color?
thanks!

Hi. I'm new. I'm trying this myself with a couple of thrift store shirts I found, (inspired by you and those wacky Star Wars types and their nifty Rebel Fleet Trooper shirt conversions) Sort of as a trial run. Does anyone have actual epaulette dimentions? The Covington safai shirt I'm using as the base shirt came with straps to secure the sleaves when rolled up, which are totally long enough, I'm afraid they'll be too skinny. They're like an 1 3/8" or something.
But price wise I'm up to $4.85 so far. We'll see what I'm in for after all the Rit dye and dye removal purchases are made.
