The "Camptown" Fieldmaster N' Metropolitan display

Post by DanielJones »

This thread is for those who wish to display their Fieldmaster either relaxing or in action mode. Don't be shy folks, pony up and lets see your proud lids. I'm sure Michaelson has a couple he'd like to show.

http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b278/ ... CT1710.jpg

Unfortunately this is my only good photo, most were lost in a computer crash, but I guess that leaves room to take some new ones. I'll be going up to San Francisco in a few weeks so I can take a few on the USS PAMPANITO (SS-383) a WWII era Submarine.

Cheers!

Dan

This is the only one in digital I've ever had shot, and I'm sure folks are tired of it, but here it is anyway.

Great looking topper! Is the brim "standard," or "cut?" Mine, is on the way.

Fieldmaster & Metropolitan are both welcome.

Post by DanielJones »

Yes, lets expand this to include the Metropolitan as well. Thank you folks for posting your lids here.
Dr. Seuss: It was a standard 3" brim & I had cut it to a dimensional brim.

Bending Oak: Well the looking down shot was inspired by your avatar quite some time ago.

Keep em' coming folks! :D

Cheers!

Steady hand on that cutting job. Very nice. What were the final dimensions?

Dr. Seuss: The brims final dims are 2 7/8" from front to back and 2 5/8" side to side. It is subtle but works quite well at not having that too wide cowboy brim. I took my time with the measurements and used tailors chalk to mark out the shape. Once you cut there's not turning back. Fortunately it came out exactly how I wanted it.

Cheers!

Ripper,
Is that the same hat in both of your photos? If so, I'd say that's a pretty good color match with Indy's seaplane fedora. Is it brown or grey/gray?

 I think its a conspiracy! You notice how this site has the TOP MEN of fedora making ? I have a PB that is not even a month old. Now I've ordered a gray camptown. Its not even here yet and I'm dying for a NOIR! And I've even schemed a diabolical plan all working toward an AB! Since my first fedora was the brown PB I throw the wife off by getting a grey and then a black so she forgets so much about the brown, then I order the brown AB! And when she figures it out I say: But my other has a black ribbon! And I need a full beaver hat! 8)

P.S. Where's the camptown on the submarine pics Daniel? We want to see you climbing on from the water too! Not from any ole gangplank!

Actually I'm still waiting for my grey chief! :( But all good things come to those who wait. Well, at least that theory works on paper.
It's funny, I'm heading up to San Francisco this weekend so hopefully, with luck I'll be able to get a couple of good shots on the sub. I suppose it'll depend if I can get up on the conning tower or not.
Of course the whole look may switch to the Jim Malone look for up there by morning.
Still, I'm itching for that grey too.

Cheers!

My submarine shot on the USS Pampanito

Sorry, a bit too warm even in San Francisco for a leather jacket and I couldn't scale the conning tower to lash myself to the periscope. I suppose it will do for now. Where can I find a good German U-Boat in the States that I can climb on?
Got to say though, the inside of the Pampanito was a lot roomier than the Soviet sub I've been in.

Cheers!

The vest is vintage fabric but new. My woman had made it for me using a Vogue pattern. The pattern & vintage wool herringbone I had won on ebay. Needless to say it wasn't easy to make. There was tears & cussing, and all I could do was duck & grab my hat.
I think she did a fantastic job of it and I tell her every time I put it on. I'll be sure to pass the compliments on to her.

Cheers!

Hi all,

I shipped some more hats yesterday and more will go out tomorrow. There have been some really great photos here. I am so pleased that they are getting worn and used and enjoyed I can hardly tell you all.

Just so you know, there is inside each Camptown Hat sweatband a personally written inscription with the number of the hat and my signature,
so no two are alike but for the build quality.

Not that you would necessarily care, but....

More hats on the way to you all!

Ken

P.S. Anyone put their Camptown decals anywhere cool ( I include one in each box, check if you have one, if not I'll send one along)?

 I think it would be like trying to date two women at the same time. Since the feds gonna be open crown I would probably leave it alone until next thursday when I go back on my days off. (Work five off five) unless of course it gets here before the camptown. I do have a feeling that the camptown will get the most wear.
Either way gonna be a long week for me. I leave for work at 5pm, ups always delivers at my house at 6pm. So I will probably get a call saying guess what came in today. So in answer to the question probably neither!
Of course I could be getting a little sick. Cough, cough.

Hey Dan - I hope you changing the title of this thread to "N More" doesn't end up diluting it to include other hats. I want more pictures of Camptowns in here! Stat!
Better than artsy fartsy! Well at least since Ken is working on mine this week so my akubra should come in well before the Camptown. So I will have a little time to mess with it(or mess it up).
I wonder if anyone has done a post your akubras thread? We have a Camptown and an Adventurebilt.
