The flat black loops do have a little sheen to them. I'd be curious to see what the charcoal gray ones look like? At that price, it'd be easy to do a comparison.

Shoot, Rip, I'll take 4 of them off your hands. May try my hand and changing out the D rings on my cloth Wested. I have NEVER liked those on cloth, so the sliders might work out better.

I know. I already have the anvil, 16 pound sledge hammer and iron tongs waiting for their arrival. Shouldn't take me more than, say, 4 days to do the job.
The replacement sliders are a Super discovery fellas!! That's one thing I never liked on my USW jacket. And such an easy swap, and cheap too. I just ordered a set of them. Thanks for the info!! raider 57

I just installed the new sliders on my USW jacket. A tip I figured out: Much easier to tape up the plier ends rather than the sliders themselves. Also, I used large needlenose pliers, and gripped with the smooth areas about halfway down. Fortunately I bought two extra sliders, cuz I scratched up the first attempt! I am SURE that Canada is producing these kind of sliders. We may have kinda crappy movies, but I'm sure we have gotten to the point where we can figure out how to bend metal! :)

when i was shopping in canada for sliders/buckles, the manufacturers that i found were all out east (ontario).
there was not much choice in hardware that would work on a jacket. besides, the cost was $0.23 each.....not bad but you had to order a minimum of 1000 peices.....not good....not good at all.
I wonder if MEC, or Campers Village might have those. I remember seeing stuff like that.
If not, I am sure they have a catalogue where they can order some, and I am sure they would.
i haven't checked MEC yet but campers village has a 'textiles outfitters' inside of it. unfortunately those guys don't carry the right sliders....the ones they supply are more for webbing belts/straps.
Well, the way I look at it, it's a one time purchase and money well spent.
Keep the old D rings, and should you ever sell or trade the jacket, either make the new sliders a selling point, or replace the new sliders with the old D rings and put the rectangular sliders on your new jacket.

My authentic seal brown jacket I just received from Peter came with rectangular sliders (and silver zip) as requested.
The sliders are a thinner diameter wire than the antiqued D-rings he uses (from memory), and the rectangular are silver/nickel/whatever, but not black. (I will post pics later)
What is the SA color for the sliders?
My order was 99% perfect, they forgot to add the 2nd interior pocket but I can live without it, the other stuff was more important. Actually the main interior pocket was bigger than I expected so I think I am fine with it.

I ordered some as well and I have not gotten them yet, ordered them like last week sometime and still no sliders. I don't know, maybe I will give them a call. I ordered 15 of them just in case I break a few. If I don't get any sliders this week I think I am just going to get some free from Peter and pay the shipping.
Yeah, I just realized this is a rather old thread resurrected. Hope the company is still in business and didn't just abandoned their website and leave it working. I used Paypal and it all went thru OK.
Michigan, I just got my sliders today so hopefully you will be getting your sliders soon. Just wanted to let you know that. They look really great just have to put them on my jacket which should not take to long once I find some tools.
Yes strapworks website is still working. I am having difficulty getting the rectangular ones to bend and I already pretty much ripped the black coating around one of them already. I may get some better tools tomorrow, I was using some pliers and some needle nose pliers to try to bend the metal some and used a cloth to try to not to take the coating off. I will try something else tomorrow see what works. Yes strapworks is still in business, luckily I ordered 15 of these metal loops.
EDIT-Well now I broke about five or six, I damaged about 6 more now I only have two left, I have one on the jacket. I don't think I am buying anymore of these rectangular buckles, even when I put a cloth over the slider the grooves in the pliers just eat right through it. It still damages the black coating, which can easily can be taken off. It has literally taken me hours and I only got one on. Peters D-rings came off easily, but dang the sliders from strapworks just can break with very little effort. I can't figure a way to bend the slider without damaging the black coating so much. I even tried taping some velcro to the pliers to soften the grooves and it worked for one. That was it. I give up on these sliders, I am calling Peter tomorrow and getting some black sliders from him. It is just not worth all the effort. My knuckles were turning white.
Mine just showed up today, they look good, but I haven't worked with them yet. Hopefully I'll have better luck than IndianaChris711. Glad I ordered extras too!
Put mine new sliders on last night, no real problems encountered. None broke prying open, only slightly scratched one. World of difference in appearance and how securely the straps stay put now. Only tip I figured out for install was to use needle nose pliers (2 pair) with the tips padded with several wraps of duct tape (the product which can solve anything!) I started out with one pair of needle nose and one pair of regular pliers. The teeth on the regular pliers chewed thru the tape in no time. Needle nose generally have less agressive gripping teeth/surface, and worked much better for me. $10 well spent, IMHO. Plan on doing my USW next, and I bought 4 extra for any future jackets.
