Considering that there's a choice between 65" and 71" for bag straps, I was wondering what length someone 5'10 should get?

Hm........actually, I'd like to know as well. I'm 5'10 too. It's probably better to get a 65" strap. 71" seems more like a size for taller people.

The 71" is best for tall folks and the horizontally well-endowed (like myself). I'm not very tall, but my belly makes up for it.

Well, which works best for a person who is 5'10 and wears 36' waisted pants?
(sorry if it seems like I'm hijacking this thread. It's just something I've wanted to know too)

If you are about that height and are really in doubt and it doesn't cost any more, get the longer strap.
It's really easy to shorten the strap if too long, just cut/trim and make a new hole for the post screw/chicago screw.

65" unless you're a lot taller than Ford. They ARE adjustable. Unless you superglue the buckle to your chest, it's going to move all the time anyway as the bag shifts around, so don't drive yourself too crazy.

I'm assuming then that the 6'1 Ford wore a 65" as well?
Thanks all, I'm pretty confident in the 65" strap now, and just went ahead and placed an order for two NH straps (one in both leathers)! Will have to put up pics once I've attached them to the MkVII (which is on its way as well!)

Hi,
Just wanted to drop in and talk about bag strap length. I've just received my Indy Magnoli strap, very nice... They come in one size of 72" and Magnoli said they were easy to alter if required. I'm 5'11" and tried the strap at 72" but after a bit playing about decided to cut it down to exactly 65", and it is perfect at that length for me!!!!
Cheers,

That's my dimensions as well. I bought the 71" and it fits perfectly. The buckle is right where I want it to be.
Hope that helps.

Just to throw in my two cents, I'm 5'10, with a 32" waist, and the fit of a 65" strap is perfect.

Trust me, when you get to the 36" mark the top section gets a lot thicker also.

If the price is the same anyway, my advice would be to order the longer one and cut it down if needed.
I'm 6'4" and needed a longer one than 72"...
Also, people of equal hight might have different sized torsos (length and width), so if you're really picky on centering the buckle it would be a good idea to create a "dummy strap" and see how long you actually need it to be.
Just an advice from one who made a couple of straps himself.

Swindiana

I think it the length also depends on how high you want the bag to be at your side... Just my two cents.

I agree...I think most people like theirs at the hip. But remember you can always adjust a longer length but you can't make a short one longer

Sure. I would most probably oder the longer version, too.

Or maybe, you can buy a 71" and let a
little person play jump rope with it while the bag is attached.
That way the bag gets distressed and the
little person gets some exercise. It's a win, win situation!!!!!

It's a topic discussed before and I think everyone got their message across on this.
Let us know in General Gear when it arrives, Castor.
Locking.
