So, whaddya think?
I dont know - I kind of like the idea of just retiring it how it is. ITs now a relic of Templars and I'll just preserve it as such- I have an AB currently undergoing some construction with Steve and my feeling is to make that my new Indy hat, which will from now on accompany me on all adventures.Michaelson wrote:You DESPERATELY need to send that to Steve Delk to have rebuilt, Ken!
It's a part of the history of the hobby now. Don't let it get to far gone.

A couple of styling notes/thoughts from a hatter.Fedora wrote:I want a Cairo hat."
"Well, sit on it a few times."
"But it won't look good with suits anymore."
"Then you don't want a Cairo hat, you want a Raiders bashed fedora."The truth of the matter is, the SOC hat just looks like it is in need of a refurbish. The felt has sagged, and bulged and lost the traditional fedora, clean and crisp good look. It looks like a worn out hat, but without the holes. And that is why I love it so much!! But, with that said, it is hard to get that look without beating the hat up and yes, crushing it by sitting on it. If after one sitting, it still doesn't have the proper look, sit on it as many times as it takes. If the hat has stiffener, you will need to break this down before it approaches the look many of us like. The stiffener is put in a new hat to help maintain the new look. When someone ordera a hat from me that they want to look like one of the distressed Indy fedora, that is a tall order. Mainly because I do not feel comfortable beating up a new hat, for someone else. And, that is easy to so yourself. Most can tear up a steel ball with a feather.

Ken,Ken wrote:Unfortunately I think its just some random graffitti on the rock behind - the shots were taken in the desert out near Victorville California when we were filming on Treasure of the Templars. The hat is in much worse condition now - has a permanent taper, has lost both the liner and sweatband - you can see from the photos it just doesn't sit on my head as well as it used to:
