Slightly washed out in the photograph; a bit darker and brown/grey/green hued "in person." But, yes, definitely lighter than when it started out. Baked by the Colorado sun.
The other, a year plus PB Custom, has always been light.
Castor:
No one said sitting was easy. At least, when the sitter is over 200 lbs.

Here they are: Front; Front Angle; Back; Back Angle.Aeris_Canon wrote:Seuss, maybe a picture of how the hat looks after you put the bash back into shape? These pics of "before" might be suggesting that this is how the hat's supposed to end up as the final result, which is not the case.
The creases basically disappear. But then, I like the exaggerated look.

Hard to say. For me, being over 200 lbs, not very long; a couple of quick "squishes." The threads have stories (Bink or GCR, I believe), of sitting, then "jamming" the hat under a sofa cushion and sitting on top of the cushion for hours.Indiana Neri wrote: How long do you sit on the hat?
Perhaps Aeris_Canon will pop back in and offer his view?

So now, no sitting is necessary? Fedora, you are taking the fun out of this hobby.Fedora wrote:Just for giggles, here is my new Raiders block that I have mentioned in the past. The mushrooming you see is nothing more than the way that I styled it per request of the customer. The reason the hat looks tall, is because it is tall. Almost 6 inches open crown, with 2 7/8 by 2 3/4 brim.

Same hat about three minutes later.
I would venture the first picture shows a bit of standard taper. Is the second photo due to "sitting," or a la Fedora (above photo), "styling"?
Thanks for the historical insight, very enlightening. Would the "Cliffsnotes" version include, "the Raiders film hat was characterized by the costumer's efforts to impart a worn and, at times, haggard appearance to a dress fedora. To accomplish this effect, the fedora was crushed, and literally sat upon; the intention to impart greater visual dimension and texture to the otherwise smooth felt crown and brim." Or something like that?
So, is there consensus, the "Raiders" hat, was crushed/sat upon as simply a means of invoking a "worldly character," without any regard for the final shape? Mushrooming, was the unintended result of trying for a more rugged appearance? So, to make a Raiders, it should have a couple of divets? Pristine it was not (perhaps only once or twice/Grey)?
Concerning SA, in your opinion, is it the HJ's felt? Apparently no one wants to take on that "thrown down."
Sincerely,
