For pictures and more detailed information on the three main types, I could recommend no better place than Indygear:

Ooh.....hard choice. I voted Webley, but only because I can't vote multiple times.

That picture's not a 1917 Hand Ejector! At least it's not a normal one... What is it?

I voted for the Smith.

ya, you'll have to also add to the poll to diferentiate the Bapty and the Stenbridge models. Then I'd alter my vote fromt he S&W to more specifically be the Bapty S&W

I've always favored big bore N-frame Smiths. By the way, the 1917 pictured is bowenclassicarms.com's "1917" Ruger Redhawk.

Yep, I wonder why a Ruger was pictured.... :?

Then again, that's why I voted for it.

I'm a toss up between the S&W for reliability and the Webley because I think it looks cool.

Oops, my bad. I've switched the pic, stolen it from a certain other thread ;)

For my money, while LC was the gear that I've always fancied (as it was the movie that I enjoyed the most as a kid), I'm not too much a fan of the Webley come to think of it. For some reason it strikes me as too... chunky and post-modern I guess.

I think of Indy as more of a classic cowboy archetype (or maybe I just think of Han Solo as that, and that prejudice was carried over!), so that puts the Browning out of the running as well.

So by process of elimination, this narrows it down to the S&W and the Colt, and since the Colt doesn't get as much screen time, nor is it featured in two Indy films like the S&W is, I guess I'd have to go with the S&W!

Uh...I fell for the cool factor as well, and picked the Webley. It just has such a unique style to it. (Hey, he did say 'favorite', right? ;))

Bapty

Post by Indy45 »

Castor,

1st choice definitely the Bapty (S&W HE2 .455, actually NOT a 1917) Here's mine:

2nd choice is the gun written in the script but NOT USED in the film - a Colt 1911 semiauto.

Colt 1911... That's a gun I've got to get somewhere down the road...

That's the same gun that Bogart packs in Casablanca btw! ;)

if you can take a screen grab, look at Indy in the ship with Marion, it looks like he is racking the slide of a 1911, I gotta check that now....crud on stop action I can see the Browning slide crud crud crud....

My favorite will have to be the Browning HP. I've personally never cared for wheel guns........... and yea, I would imagine Indy could have accumulated a large variety of firearms on his adventures. Then again, he often discards his "picked up" weapons when finished with them. raider 57
