Like I promised Perceval, here are a couple of shots of my "new" MkVII bag.
Rather faded front compared to the flap, still a thing of beauty:
It's all in the details:
The reason I got it was 1)My mint G.&S. Ltd. had been patched up a few too many times and 2) This one had Newey snaps and 3) It was issued but still intact!
R.D. & Co and dated 1942, this means we can add another manufacturing year to this company on the main page.
Cheers!

You're going to cut off the strap, aren't you...
Don't take this the wrong way, but I just can't believe how you people can actually take it upon yourselves to dissect a MINT relic from WWII! I could never do that... At least I don't think I could... To me, I'm just horrified at the thought of mutilating history like that...
But then again, look what Indy did to pretty much every historical site he went to... Especially that Chachpoyan (sp?) Temple in the opening of Raiders

No cutting for me, just undo the stitches and Robert is your father's brother. If you are REALLY careful you can even resew the strap with the same thread if you need to by adapting extra thread to be able to sew.
Worse things have been done to these babies. Ask Scandinavia Jones about a certain chemical experiment...
Still, there are millions of these bags floating around, or rather sitting in warehouses collecting dust.
Regards,
Swindiana

Yeah, the first one came out pretty nice, didn't it?
"Sunset in Sweden"-light on it and all... Sitting on an IKEA chair. Thanks buddy! (A little glimpse of what my new apartment looks like for you.)
Perceval;
My pleasure.
Yes, it was pretty much a find, about $25 shipped from the UK isn't bad I think.
Regards,
Swindiana
