I am hoping later on we can pool our funds Marc and offer some differnet earthtone colors. I wouild love to be able to wear these as daily shirts, but I get tired of the same color. I would love to own some in colors like olive, rust, and blue. Well, I guess blue is not an earthtone!! Fedora
Yeah, and I'm trying to talk him out of it again  It won't be good business for him neither, if I can't afford to come back... Still pending though.
There isn't any label as of now - I've got an idea on how I'd like it, but first of all I need to scrap some pre-orders together to get the shirt itself.
Out of curiousity, will these shirts be slim fitting for that true Indy look? Or will they be loose-bodied to accomodate most body types?
I've always wanted to get an Indy shirt, but it seems that most of the current offerings are looser fits, which doesn't look half as good on the slimmer folk Either way, it's a win-lose situation
Fair enough! The manufacture insisted on making 1000 pieces min. requirement and in return, my contact person basicly told them to "what men and women do sometimes" themselves. So he's negotiating with a couple of new manufactures now and they'll get both the original MBA shirt and the prototype together with my list of changes. I hope to get a second and better prototype soon, but wouldn't bet on it, as Jinyu told me that my pickyness is hard to please (what a surprise).
I just received the second prototype and except for some tiny changes, this is it. The color is custom made to match the MBA, the shoulder flaps have been improved and so has the button placement, together with some other minor details. I like it!
What needs to be done yet is getting the right buttons (which won't be a problem according to my shirtmaker), some tiny modifications on the button holes and on the back of the collar and the pen hole in the left pocket.
Can't wait to see it after it's been in the washer - which will be tomorrow!
Here are some quick shots, the first with, the other without flash:
As always: cristism - good and bad - is more than welcome.
Regards,
Marc

looks great marc. good to see that this is coming along......and that you reminded me that i went in on one of these shirts
a couple of questions....."pen hole on the left pocket"....is that SA? i don't recall my NH having that but i could be wrong.
and finally, i'm assuming that you are mimicing the NH cut of the shirt? if so then i have no issues.....if not, it looks like there is a little extra sleeve length on your model there.
Who's that guy in the jeans in your house, Marc?
I think I actually never saw you in something other than gear, a suit or tweed ...
Well, what were we talking about? Ah, yes - the shirt! How flexible and durable is the material? I mean compared to a dress shirt and , let's say - the Wested-shirt? I learned that "durable" sometimes means, I probably sweat in it ...
Yes, I'm copying the NH shirt cut wise, but will have to compare my notes with the shirt I have here.

What a surprise... Guess who too It very much reminds me of the material that's on the shirt I wore during the summit (if you recall). I don't have any problems in this and it's still durable IMO.
Here's one taken outside at 8:15pm.
The shinyness is gone, now that it's washed. Time to take measurements and compare to my notes (especially on the sleeves - thanks Jason) before I send it back tomorrow.
The width is fine VP, but as you can clearly see, the tip on my collar has to be more pointy. I took a pen and draw the chances directly on the shirt this time. NOW is looks like a prototype

I'm afraid I'll never guess ...
If you feel comfortable in that material, I'll be fine with it, too! I do indeed remember the shirt you wore last weekend.
I think to make them oversized is the way to go. I've had my Wested tailored down for my waist but the sleeves are still a tad short. Don't make tall people suffer. Make them blousy for the large of girth and long of sleeve for those who need it. They can be altered to be smaller, not the reverse.
IMO don't make the sleeves extra long. Make them regular sizes with the fit correct for the body. People who need longer sleeves can just order larger and tailor down the body. Or produce a regular and a long version.
You have to make for the centre of the bell curve.
I'd be interested in another shirt (one from Wested via a fellow COW member and one from What Price Glory/Todd's Costumes, which is very baggy on my frame.) depending on price. The Large Wested shirt seems to fit me fine.
The price for the pre-orders is still valid (yet).
I've paid for the first 50 shirts yesterday and will pay for the rest as soon as these arrive. So it hopefully won't be long, before I don't have to decide which shirt to wear for the day any more
Maybe a bit late with this, but were the epaulettes lengthened? The epaulettes in the above Cairo scene appear to extend further past the pleats in the direction of the collar. Each epaulette button needs to be further past the pleat (about an inch, or a whole pleat width past it) and closer to the collar, IMO. Perhaps the collars need to be slimmed down at the sides to allow more room for extended epaulettes.
From what I've seen, the epaulettes' length, and their position relative to the shoulder seam, collar sides and pleats, appears to be the hardest detail for reproductions to nail down.
