Longtime lurker introduction...!

Post by FordPerfect »

Fellow adventurers -
I've been holding off as I wanted something to show before contributing, but I figured best to get in now else face the deluge of newbiesm from IV. I've been an Indyfan since childhood (of course) but only got into gearheading (is that even a word?) some months back when I unearthed this inspiring place. I've been assembling steadily and though I've completed an outfit using 'costume' components, I have this strange obsession with doing everything for 'real' (which basically means replacing holster for genuine military vintage, the obligatory real MKVII etc.) which is a slow and costly endeavour as we all well know :D
Anyhow, below is what I'm happy with so far, I guess you would call it 'Sallah's place fatigues...'

And the missus likes this shot as she thinks it has the spirit of Harrison...

Image

Just for fun I'm not gonna tell you what the components are - you can guess. Needless to say the outfit had to be tailored.
Oh, and slightly left of topic, just to show how obsessed with detail I can get, here's the last costume project I did...

Image

Yup, same guy :D

Noel Howard shirt and pants? Just my guess... maybe re-dyed and all that, but it looks good and you said you had to get it tailored. :-k

Welcome aboard!! Nice to have you.

Oh yeah - and nice Man of Tomorrow outfit.

Whatever they are, you got a good natural fit out of those - a great foundation for your gear. It's always disturbing to see a beautiful jacket and hat and totally mis-sized pants and shirt under it... ;)

SWEET Superman costume -wig and stage makeup, too, or did you dye your hair for that?

Welcome to COW!

I knew I was in for a warm welcome - you guys are famous for it :D
Some questions answered/comments -
Flattered by the Noel Howard speculation but both the shirt and pants are good 'ol Wested. Neither piece is without controversy though - The trousers were sent with NO BUTTONS in the fly and I'm still in an ongoing battle to get a set - I've been bouncing emails back and forth to (Is Gemma her name?) and have been promised a new pair without success. So when I say the outfit was 'tailored' its less posh than you may think. I added buttons and had the shirt fitted. I'm upset about the collar being WAY too tight as I'm a 17" and the shirt is a large - I can do most large shirt collars no problem but this strangles me. Details I s'pose as I'll never do it up. The belt is a H&M/Primark hybrid but I've since found out (thanks to COW) that its too wide and therefore wrong. I may well be looking at a Todd's replacement as I like the gloves he offers anyway...
Regarding the Superman costume - Thanks for all your observations, it was a real labour of love and as screen-accurate as there is. Wearing a wig was harder work than anything, however. 8)
And how can you deny that FORD is PERFECT?
I thought I was being witty and it ends up looking like a typo. Ah well.
I will be posting MANY MORE PIX in the weeks to come and I would like more observations on the outfit as the fedora etc. Is next. Its interesting to read the guesswork so I'll keep that going - I wonder if you'll nail the hat...

Not to get too far off topic, but that's a wig? Wow. Well done on the Superman outfit, very well done! :)

He was being ironic

Anyways, I just gotta say that that Superman outfit is simply mindboggling. I don't know how you did it, but... wow. :D

Looks like we now know what happened to Adam West's batpole ;)

Now go get yourself the rest of the gear, and become :junior:

So, finally more to show -
This is where I'm at now in gear terms, I started a seperate thread about the hat as I thought it might be more fun. I obviously need a jacket and gloves - the shoes are also terrible and will be replaced. Undecieded about the whip - its too short anyways. The holster is the newest addition, a genuine WWI!
love to hear any comments/observations you may have!

I have both the Wested shirt and pants and the Noel Howard shirt and pants. The shirts are different. The pants are made from the same material and I can't tell mine apart without looking at the labels. If you can't tell them apart in person, no one can tell them apart in a photo, it would just be a lucky guess.
