Mayser Young Indy Fedora
Has anyone else ever owned this Fedora? I picked it up about a year ago while living in Belgium, and have had a couple of "adventures" with it (okay, it was two camping trips). On the topic of its hardiness, it seems to be like a VERy good version of the Disney hats. It has the same sort of cloth headband and a lack of liner, and the same hat pin.
I'm not sure how SA it is, though it does match a couple of the ToD hats in color and general style. I'll try to take some pics.

Since you've got a couple hats there over your avatar, it's fair to punt you to the search function. "mayser' is a unique enough word you'll get good relevant hits. Just click the 'Search' link up above on the left top of this page below the CLUB OBI WAN logo (right under Indy's silhouette). I just tried it and it gave back a page of hits...at least the more recent ones look relevant to your question.
Not that a new thread is a problem, nope, but then you'll have the benefit of the others' experience before the conversation starts.

We do what we can. If you have a Mayser, treat it well, and do what you can with it. It's still YOUR hat, with YOUR memories.
I had a DP for a year. I knew it had limitations, but I pushed it as far as I could...rebashing, turning, padding, torturing...I got it as close as I could for what I was working with. Good practice for my upgrade to an AB - I UNDERSTOOD what I was getting and what to do with it! I don't rue the DP, I actually gave it to the preschool I helped with for a few years, and they keep it in the closet for all the Father's Day pics of the kids wearing a big hat, big shoes, and a tie for their father each year. So the hat I loved still gets love.
If your Mayser works for you, work it. Yeah, the Akubra is probably your best upgrade bet considering your age - unless you've got the means to get in on an AB order before they probably go up in price at the end of this month. They are in the 250 range right now, due to increasing demand this will likely go up to 450 come July 1. It's worth that and more. But many members here have an akubra, and some of them look PERFECT, so at $100 for a do-it-yourself bash it's a huge asset to this community and a great buy.
