Absolutely beautiful! But too rich for my blood..I am seriously in need of a new A-2...my Avirex cowhide (purchased in 1987) is a bit small...I am likely going to go for a Cockpit (Avirex) horsehide A-2. Why? (1) Avirex/Cockpit flight jackets can "take it." I've had one for 20 years and have knocked the cr___p out of it all through China, Europe, Army assignments, in rain, sleet, hail, snow...heat you name it. (2) I understand the sizing (3) the price: $345 for a HH A-2...$75 rebate if I send them my old A-2 which they donate to charity.

Having said all of this...Platon's A-2 above is the most beautiful A-2 I can recall seeing...bar none.

PS--Forc Cockpit go to www.cockpitusa.com.

careful ac....remember what your mom always said about when you made faces....what if you wake up tomorrow and all of your gear is ORANGE

that is a very nice a2 but man....that is a hefty price tag. you could probably have that thing made from scratch from a leathersmith cheaper than that.

The jacket AWESOME  But for 1000 Euro... If it was me, I'd send the pics to Peter and ask if he can replicate it using dark brown horse hide.

I bet he could do it.

Regards,

Marc

Who said I wasn't gonna do that?
And I will not send only photos but measurements as well.

Repros are nice, but 1000 euro for time accurate zipper? To #### with that. What matters most is style and fit.

Who's with me?

here here platon...style and fit all the way.

but if the time accurate zipper is what makes it pricey, i'd probably want to purchase just the zipper itself and put it in a glass case for me to look at.

Hey, AC, would you like it better if it were a bit more orange, perhaps...?

Sorry, couldn't help it...I've been snickering over your color comments all the way through this thread.

Me, I can't see spending that kind of money on a jacket...but then it's cause I don't HAVE that kind of money. If I did, I might, and then hate myself for the excessive purchase, and then send it to Aeris because I'd know he'd like it. Orange. ;)

I don't know, when you break down the cost by each tooth of the zipper, it's starting to look like only about 5 euro per tooth...gee, now it's starting to sounds more affordable... ;)

did some math....1000 euro is about $1335 usd which is about $1415 cad. now if i were to buy this and incurr the same kind of customs fees/tax as on a wested...say 20% that would almost be $1700 cad.

for that, you can get 1 custom flightjacket, 1 custom wested, and have enough left over for a goat expedtion (assuming you pay normal shipping rates).

that must be one #### of a nice jacket for that price....it also better taste like oranges when i nibble on it for that kind of coin

mmmmmmm...$1700 orange a-2 milkshake....drool...drool....

"And the shnozzberries taste like shnozzberries..." ;) A lickable jacket! I guess if the whole thing were made from fruit rollups it would also be classified as survival gear...
