...from Frames Direct a couple of weeks ago. They look great in blonde with gold trim although I'll probably get them in chestnut with white gold trim also. I tried them on a few times and put them back in the case. They're a little different than the style I had been wearing(40's style in tortoise plastic) so I wanted to get my wife's opinion. When I pulled them out of the case, the temple fell off and I could not for the life of me find the missing screw.
I don't let anyone replace eyeglass screws unless it's the exact one so I called Berkshire for some replacement screws and went ahead and gave them to my optician to have the lenses made. They have a separate screw to hold the lenses in so the missing screw wouldn't effect the lenses being made. I always use glass lenses because they're much more scratch resistant so it took a little over a week to get the glasses back. I figured the screws would be there by then so it should work out fine.
A week later I've already received the screws and I go to pick up my glasses. The optician puts the screw in and the barrell is stripped so now I'm waiting for a replacement.
Has anyone else had issues with these frames? I thought they'd be fairly bullet proof.
So I got my Berkshires...

I got these.

But in this color.
And the same thing happened again. I just had my optician put in some longer self tappers and will deal with it. I probably won't buy them again though. I'll just keep these for the collection.

Hello Kittlemeier,
I ordered the ones Sean Connery wears:
SAVILE ROW 14KT DIAFLEX HIGH MOUNT
viewtopic.php?t=16242
Ive had them for a while now, maybe a year. The nose piece broke off after a few months. They replaced that for free but I had to pay delivery charges, about 30 bucks. Overall Im happy with them, but they are very fragile, the arms are VERY thin and the ear pieces are a cheap plastic that has been loose since day one, and now gets nasty green stuff in there, so I have to remove them every now and then and clean them.
I bought these for the look, which no one else had, believe me I searched. I would not make another purchase from this company since the quality is just not there. I have a pair of cheap silver metal glasses I bought a few years ago that are much stronger and seem to be holding up better. I paid about 300 dollars maybe more I cant remember for the frames and lenses. I expected these guys to be the best pair of glasses I ever owned, they are not...
