dumb question
Since I now am the proud owner of one of Nick's whips, I have a question. Do I just let it get broke in on its own from practicing, or should I treat it with some sort of leather conditioner to soften it up. I know absolutely nothng about whips!! I could and should research this section, but I have absolutely no spare time these days and just do my perfuctory checks on the Fedora section each morning. Any advice would be appreciated!! thanks in advance. Fedora

Fedora, Welcome to the Bullwhip forum .
Break in your new bullwhip slowly just buy using it, Avoid the temptation to rush it along buy using a leather dressing to soften it, that’s not recommended. You’ll want to treat it with a light coating of leather dressing every so often as it’s used but there should be more then enough leather dressing and plaiting soap in the whip now. Don’t over grease the plaited section, but don’t let it dry out either. Keep your fall well treated though.
I’ve set up this topic to help answer a lot of general questions on whips and whip care, viewtopic.php?t=19880 you also check out the bullwhip FAQ at www.bullwhip.org for tips on whip care and whip cracking, and of course If you have any questions though don’t hesitate to ask. Enjoy your new Bullwhip.
