Socks

Post by Mountaineer Lasher »

Here's one you don't see talked about very often. I know there has been some laughs about Ford's socks not being the same color as the stuntmen, but what sock color do you all wear with your gear? :D 8)

For me, it depends on what pants I am wearing. If khaki then, khaki socks. If taupe (ROLA), then gray or brown. W>

I'm more of the 'socks-should-match-shoes' school of dressing. Brown boots = brown socks.

I wear white socks, usually. They are brown by the time I take them off if I am wearing a new pair of Aldens or Red Wings :P

Do new ones do that to socks??

When I'm in gear I wear dark brown/gray socks that are close to my pants, but just a little darker. Otherwise I'd wear black or darker brown.

Yep. When you sweat whilst wearing the shoes, the brown leather dye in the insoles or insides of the shoe bleed off onto the socks. My Aldens did it, and my Red Wings do it.

Me too. My white socks tend to take on the colors of my boots. Fellow campers have been known to beg me to keep my boots and even feet outside the tent. You don't want to know what happened the time a racoon licked the sole of my foot one night in Maine.
I wear white socks most of the time, but dark grey or black when going "formal" in full gear. I have never owned a pair of brown socks in me life.

I've always worn black socks with everything, I hate white socks. Funny Templars note, we tried to keep Ken from wearing gray socks he had with the gear during shooting. Something for you guys to hunt for when it's released.

From some of the vidcaps it looks like he wears dark brown socks.

Anyway, I found these today at a store:

Carhartt Midweight Wool Boot Sock Style: A157 DKB

I had trouble finding a somewhat thick wool sock in dark brown.
And these are workboot socks which are prob a good match for the Aldens, and are available in XL for those like me with big feet.

I spend a lot of time on my feet so socks are all important. If you spend money on good shoes you have got to have good socks.

Check out:

Not really Indy-esque but can freak a lot of people out (so worth it for that reason alone!)

I own and wear only black socks. they are all black - not brown, no white. makes it easy when one sock gets lost in the laundry.

Nice Watermellon socks there bink, I guess it does put the term never wear socks in sandals at all. I do sometimes around the house, but never outside. Who is Molly Goatwax?? I can't make out the spelling of the last name.

I just was thinking about socks, because I just watched Raiders, and after Indy dodges the Boulder, etc. He gets caught by Bellosh, I mean Belloq  It just right after the guy falls with the arrows in his back, pay attention to Indy shoes, you can see his socks are a darker color and bunched up, its like only a few second, I am going to try to get a screen shot of it if I can. Looks kind of like a tall dress black or brown sock. I wear white socks right now, but am looking now for a black or dark brown dress sock. I don't know if there if any close ups of the socks in other scenes, just caught my eye the other day. What do you guys recommend?

Those socks look pretty good, I may get some of those, maybe in black, not sure if the brown is dark enough for me.

The dark brown looks good with Aldens and NH pants next to it.
But I can totally understand buying black.

I just figure Indy gets everything in different shades of brown.
