That's funny, 'cause I just got a picture of those this very morning from Manufaktum (a company that sells stuff that is made like "back in the days" here in Germany).

They'll be available from October from Manufaktum.

After all the trouble I've had with my #405, I think I'll get a pair of these. What's the retail price in the U.S.?!

Now I REALLY like the looks of these Redwings. Wonder if they'll show up in the local Redwing stores, or are just going to be one of the 'online only' type offerings that Redwings occasionally does?

Thanks for the heads up, TR! These are REALLY nice looking boots, and I have to say that every pair of Redwings I've ever owned have always been extremely comfortable.

Seriously though, those are the best looking Indy wannabes around. I have the Jcrew Deckers, and they don't even come close compared to these. I got my plastic ready to go Raider, just need the URL!

Hey folks,

I just called my local Redwing store, and they have this one available. It doesn't seem to be online, though, and the proprietor said she thinks it is exclusive to the brick-and-mortar (not internet) stores.

They have it here for $200, with a shorter version for $179.

I had noticed these on "that site" as well, and was immediately drawn to them, especially given that we know Indy was originally supposed to wear Readwings. Guess this is a look at what might have been in Indy (foot)-gear.

Had no idea of that retail price though.

I'm actually really pleased that they don't have speed laces because speed laces chew through your shoelaces after awhile.

Well, I decided to pick up a pair and won the auction, so I will let you all know how they're sized (+/-) and post more picks and a review. I have the JCREW Deckers, which are not as comfortable as I would like. I've heard Redwings are super comfortable.

Got them today. They look pretty nice and fit well. I'll have to ware them for a week or so and see how they feel after that. The toung is kind of odd. It's all connected to the sides. The toe is kind of big and stiff compaired to the flater profile of the Aldens. I'll have to put weight on them or something to flaten them out some.

Of course I might try to post some pictures, but you've seen them already so maybe I'll hold off.

I got mine yesterday. I'm sure they'll work out nicely. I was surprised by the tongue as well, but found they really didn't hinder the comfort of these boots. Should help if you happen to step in a puddle though!!

I picked up some RedWings recently - they seem to be a pretty true fit. I generally wear a 9 1/2, not too wide, not to narrow - and their 9 1/2 D nailed it. Took a little breaking in, but good boots.

EDIT: Forgot the details...I picked up the 202 model - the only drawback was a SLIGHT comfort pad around the top of the cuff, but no one will ever see it unless the boot is off. It's a red/oxford finish, but it's wearing off fairly easily and giving it a nice worn-in look. Cost me around $150 (or so) direct at a RedWings store in town (here in the US).

That 1908 TR found I think is a better look...just couldn't find it anywhere. Most of the cool styles are not available in the US, or no longer being made.

I did a little acetone work on mine. Not much. Took the shine off and hit the high spots with a little "ware". It brings out the lighter truck chase color too. Check out the heal.

I'll get the rest of the ware from actually waring them.

This is a compairison pic (L distressed, R new)

I put some pecards on them after I was done with both to sofen them up a little and protect the leather some.

UNFORTUNATELY, I just found out that Red Wing is only selling these in Europe and other places overseas, but us in the good ol' US are S.O.L. I called their 800 number and was told this by customer service. [insert favorite swear here]

I guess we'll have to get all of our shoes from potato. (sorry, wrong thread).

Schorsch, where are you located? Want to pick me up a pair of 12D's?

Man, I swear! And I always thought Red Wings was an American company, is it not? Where is it based? Also, I want to scream everytime I visit their website. I know this has been discussed before and I'm not interested in rehatching it but it's rediculous that both, scratch that - ALL their markets can't get the same products. It's really frustrating, sorry for the rant.

I printed out info sheets and pics of ALL the models I was interested in - about a dozen. To a TEE - ALL of the Indy-esque ones were UK-only offerings.

The salesclerk didn't know anything about an Indy look to a boot, of course, but her take on it was that all the cool and interesting variations that should sell great here for some reason were only marketed in Europe - like for some reason they didn't 'test well' here or something. She could TRY to order something, but she'd always been told NO before.

I also found out what's up w/ that crazy 'crepe' sole...according to her, it may wear down really fast (sometimes in as little as two months!) but that type of sole is meant to withstand high heat w/o melting. Apparently, iron workers are some of their core customer market, so they still market it for them. And while I was there, someone came in w/ a voucher to pick up work boots. They still provide as much if not more boots for actual work use than for casual/dress, apparently.

In short, anything in the 8000 series of boot models were NOT available so far as I know. I did find something else that looked Indy-ish to me...I forget which - a close cousin of something cool - and believe it or not, it was on clearance, down from something like $150 to $50 or 60 - but they only ever carried it in BLACK (yeah, again, she said no color variants in the US for that model) and it turned out not to be my size...up until I found that out, I was seriously considering buying it anyway and trying to find a way to lighten it...

but we took a look at it together and figured out it was black clean through the leather. Bleah.

I have a pair of the 202 as well. I bought my normal size but I needed a wide width. The D was too narrow. I'm not real crazy about the red color. I wonder if acetone would work on these as well, taking off some of the shine and color.

I used the acetone just to distress them a little. It will take the shine off too. (basicly just go over them lightly) If anything it's going to lighten them up some, probably not really want you want, but I'm not sure what the red color is exactly. Becareful or you can easily go down to the bare leather color if you rub too much or too hard.

Have you scuffed em up at all yet? Because that deep red is coming right off mine, looking much more like a reddish/tan leather underneath. If I just scuffed one boot off the other I bet I could wear most of it right off in a hurry, but I'm hard enough on stuff, I think two more weeks of just being Jerry ought to do it.

Underneath the color is much lighter, so I believe after MUCH usage (including knee deep mud) they will look close to the color of the Indy Magnoli boots on the main page:

Excellent boots, the 1908s!! They were my first Indy-style boots since it's easier to get 1908s in Europe than Aldens. Some webshops in Germany have them available, if anyone is interested I'd post the links.
