Sizing Question

Post by PLATON »

I know sizes differ in all jacket vendors but your experience can be helpful this time.

If I wear size 40 Wested, then

1. what size Eastman am I?
2. what size Aero am I?

I recently gave my chest size, height and weight to a vendor

chest 42
height 5 10
weight 165

and sent them a photo of a tight fit wwii jacket and ask them what size should I get in order to look like in the photo. They answered "42"

By the way the chest measurement of their 42 size is 48 1/2.
I was thinking of getting their 38 which measures 44 1/2 in the chest.
Their size 40 measures 46 1/2 in the chest.
My Wested size 40 measures 44 in the chest.

What should I do?
What size to get? 38? 40? or 42?

Michaelson? _?

Ok, let me put it another way.
My chest measures 42. Is it normal that my wested 40 fits me great?

I mean, does the fact that that my chest measures 42 mean that I should get size 42?

Do your westeds have the same size as your chests?

Maybe these will help? Often, the sizing info is coming from FLATHEAD.

From what I gather, Wested adds 4 inches of room to their jackets. (A size 40 would have an OUTER chest circumference of 44 inches)

I have found that 4 inches of room is my "sweet-spot" as far as a great fit goes. I have a 44 inch chest, and look for a 24 inch armpit to armpit measurement, regardless of what size is on the tag. ;) These pics of my G&B Historical A-2 show how a a 48 inch outer chest
circumference looks on me:
