That looks like it took months to create. It'd surely take me YEARS! (course,i'd have to learn how to make whips first.) ;-)

The designs you've plaited in with the natural tan are absolutely beautiful, Bernie! Do you have any close up pics of those?

Outstanding! That is truly extraordinary. I showed that picture to my wife (who generally has no interest in whips), and even she liked it. It is hard not to be envious of the recipient of that work of art (although I'm not sure I'd want to be around "Mistress Erzsebet" if that name has the connotation I think it does). If I can stop buying other gear, though, I'd like to put in an order with Bernie one day.

I took her name off the ring and forgot the whip photo,all fixed now and sorry if anyone took any offence. Unfortunately I was behind schedule with the whip, had to have it there for a birthday gift so I didn't get around to taking close ups.Always meant to but never had the camera in the workshop at the right time.Maybe next time.
It took about 120 hours to make using something like a bit over 1000ft of kangaroo lace if you include the bellies. It's not something you can sit down and do in one hit, four or five hours at a time is about the limit, after that your brain starts to go numb. The engraving I do myself and am a wannabe.If anyone is interested though in seeing some truly spectacular engraving go to this page http://www.lindsayengraving.com/menu.htm and click some of the gallery links. The tools are the same tools I use by the way.I don't think I've got enough years left to get anywhere near the engravers featured on those pages.

Bernie, that looks fantastic, as always! One question...when you do that many individual patterns, do you sit down ahead of time and actually map out what you're gonna do, or just go with what comes to mind as you're plaiting? Outstanding!

Before I became computer literate I used to sit down with graph paper and work it out that way. Now with a simple program like Microsoft Word and the drawing program in that I can work it all out on the computer like the 32 plait example below. I sit down and work out a few pages of these at a time,print them out,join them up,see how they look and if it's ok go ahead and plait it up

Bernie my friend, that bullwhips is stunning! It’s a piece of art work! Thank you for sharing your pictures here, you should feel very accomplished plaiting whips of that caliber.
