Hat odor - Help?

This is a bit embarrasing. I am about to get my first fedora in awhile. I used to wear them regulary, B.I. (before Indy), but have several caps, cow hats and helmets in various materials. Here is my problem. I am a strong sweater and after a few days of heat or work my hats star to well, um reek. Does anybody have a good way of deoderizing hats?

Sorry, the image just cracked me up. I would second the Fabreze idea. Also, wipe the sweatband often, to keep the sweat from drying in there. Keep a bandana or something with you to whipe your sweatband, and sweaty head now and again.

You don’t need to hang it in there, just tuck it under the sweatband.

Get yourself a gallon of naptha at your local hardware. Put the hat and chemical in a container outside,(it is explosive, since it is white gas) and let it soak overnight. Take it out, and punch out the crown so it is open and let it dry outside for a day. Works great!! And if you have a covered container with a tight lid(the 5 gallon plastic buckets from Lowe's works great), you can seal up the chemical and save it for cleaning and removing odors from your hats. Once the hat dries, you will have no smell at all of the white gas. And your other odor will be gone too.

It's an Indy Fedora ######! It's SUPPOSED to smell

Ok, being a strong sweater myself, if my hat gets to the point where I can rather smell than feel that it's on my noggin, I smoke it. I.e. using it to wave some fresh air to the campfire to make it burn better. Or just sit outside at the campfire and look down, once the wind changes into your direction. The smoke doesn't only "cover" the smell of sweat, it penetrates the felt and takes the bad smell with it on it's way out again.

And what is more adventurous than a lid that smells like a campfire?

Ahh yes the Wunderbaum, Wonder Tree. I own a New Car scent one myself.
