The collar bug

Post by PLATON »

I was just wondering...

Has anybody ever asked Wested for the collar to extend to the middle of the storm flap and got it?

Perhaps if you make a specific illustration of what you want like you did with the pockets...

This is one of the very first things I look for in a Wested and I cannot recall ever seeing one like the film jacket. If anyone has one that is exactly at the halfway mark, please post some pics.

That's a very good idea. I can do that (plus something I have in mind)

Sorry for being a bit dense.... Do you mean the V formed by the collar being in the middle of the flap that covers the zip? If so mine is very close to being in the middle when fully zipped up. It may even be in the middle looking at it.

No, he means that the collar meets the storm flap in the middle of the storm flap's 1 1/2 inches. So, approx. 3/4 of an inch from the edge (the rounded point ) of the storm flap

Ok. I think I get you. Wouldn't this put the collar off-centre though? At the moment, when closed the V of the collar is on the centre-line of the jacket. If you moved where the collar was attached wouldn't it move the V off-centre? :?

Thanks :D

I see your point but the screen used jackets seem to have the collar fixed where Wested have fixed theirs don't they? Or this one does at least:

I'm not arguing with you, I'm just trying to see what you mean. Are you saying that on the Raiders jacket the collar attaches at the mid point of the storm flap? From the various pictures above I find it hard to judge...

Mine isn't 3/4" perfect center, but it's looks darn close. I measure 1" from the outer edge of the stormflap to the collar. Closed fully, the collar is perfect. Anyway, the only request I made about the collar and storm flap were for the Raiders collar and a rounded storm flap corner. Maybe you shoud try not asking for it! :)

Thanks. I can see what's meant from that picture  Is the storm flap actually deeper too? My Wested seems to have about as much storm flap visible after the collar attachment as in that pic, despite the collar being attached in line with the zip rather than half way accross the storm flap :?:

So I take it that nobody has the right collar from Wested.

Does Todd's jacket have the color attached at the center of the storm flap?

It should also be noted that the collar on the TOD jacket extends out even further than the Raiders jacket does, and with a squared off storm flap top edge. I think it would be great to see this applied when someone says they're getting a TOD jacket.

My Wested collar actually sits half way along the strom flap. Is this unusual?

I just realised that my collar is right for a Raiders, wrong for an LC - which mine is. Having said that, I actually prefer it like this. The Smithsonian jacket looks strange all zipped up
