Jacket care

I keep hearing about Pecard's cream and using it to care for your jacket. I need to ask the experts what the best way for applying it to the jacket would be. I was thinking of using a washcloth and applying it that way but thought there might be a better way. Also, how often to you folks find you have to re-apply the cream to the coat to keep it nice and protected? Will applying it cause the color of the coat to change? Any guidance would be appreciated.

I asked this of David Morgan (of Indy whip making fame) this very question via a phone call MANY years ago. He laughed at me, and said 'Use your bare hands, boy!'

That's how I've done it ever since, and it's really the best way to go as you can feel the treated from the dry areas, and you're not adding lint to the mix by using a rag.

It will darken the leather, depending on product type, as well as leather.

Thank you Michaelson! I really appreciate your being able to identify with my confusion and helping me with that ... Since that changes the color of the jacket, would I need to apply in a circular motion or horizontal strokes or will I need to even worry about such things ?

P.S. I really miss your Avatar.. What happened to it ?

No particular pattern is required for hand application of Pecards! It will all soak in.

Thanks for noticing! Updates are being made on my avatar. 'Tis Spring, the underbrush has been cut back (sideburns, that is...

), and the handlebar moustache has returned in all it's 'glory'.
