Some of my new jackets
I was hesitant at first to show you guys these pictures for a number of reasons. The first being that all of these jackets are totally non- “screen accurate” (by design) and I assume that there will be little interest. The second reason is that these jackets are all “non stock” items. You can’t get these made. I repeat, “You can’t get these made”. (Don't ask me how I got these made.)
These are all Expeditions that are size 46 long with 46 regular sleeves. This means that they are about an extra inch and a half longer in the body than a regular fit Expedition. (Although Flightsuits doesn’t do custom work, I believe that they will still work with you to get a correct fit. I believe that you have to prepay and the jacket is non-returnable though).
As far as the fit goes, I like larger fitting jackets. I could have gone down to a size 44 had I chosen. I also prefer a longer TOD type of jacket. All of these are goatskin.
Although none of these jackets is older than eight months, this "light seal brown" goatskin jacket is the newest (less than a month old). The particular batch of hides that this jacket is made from is very dark (although not as dark as "dark seal'). I particularly like it, but who knows what the next batch will be. Although the other two have left sided zippers, after careful consideration, I decided that these were "girlie" and opted for a right-sided zipper for my final jacket. The lining is obviously non-standard as well.
This russet jacket was made from clearance leather that they no longer carry. I like the jacket a lot, but in all honesty, I prefer my old russet Expedition a tiny bit more to this one. The old one was made from chrome-tanned hide and this one is made from Indian vegetable-tanned hide. I like Veg-tanned skins, but I think I prefer chrome for an Indy jacket (at least in goatskin). I’m still in the process of breaking this one in.
Black. At one time this was a standard item. I don't think that it is anymore.
I'll take some "detail" pics later. Cheers

Those are positively GORGOUS!!!!
You forget, Adam, not ALL of us are in pursuit of screen accuracy. These look GREAT!!! Now, I wish you HADN'T told us they weren't available. I really like the first one the best myself!
NICE stuff, old friend! You have a find grouping there!
HIGH regards! Michaelson

Very nice "herd" of jackets Rundquist... I like the light seal brown, but the grain on the veg-tanned russet is fantastic!
I also would prefer the right-handed zipper if (when ) I purchase an Expedition.
Did the pocket scallops just come like shown as received, or did you ask for more or less scallop when ordered? They all seem a little different, and that would concern me on my order. I personally like the scallop on the russet goat flap the best, followed by the light seal brown...
Thanks for posting the pics.... I look forward to seeing the detail shots....

First things first. Flightsuits doesn’t do custom work. There are no pattern modifications other than a longer body. And the longer body is not really a modification. I just got size long jackets with size regular sleeves. It’s possible to do with an extra charge, and a prepaid non-returnable order. The scalloping on the pockets on the russet jacket does seem to be a tiny bit more pronounced than on the other two (which seem identical to each other). This could be because of difference in hide (the russet is veg, the other two are chrome) or it could be that there was a different jacket cutter. There's more "give" in the chrome skins. They’re not different enough to matter.
This is also why I was hesitant to post these. FS doesn’t do real custom work! Cheers

Understood.... It may just be the camera angle on the pic of the black jacket.... The flap on that one does not seem to have much scallop, like my U.S. Wings. I would not want to see pocket flaps like that on a new Expedition.

Beautiful..... Absolutely beautiful mil-spec construction and top-shelf leather. You can just see that the Expedition is a "tough-as-nails" jacket.
It looks as if the Expedition is on my short-list of "must-have" jackets now. (Along with Todd's Raiders Authentic )
You are a lucky man to have 3 to choose from Rundquist!

Yeah! I actually think I get more delight in getting jackets that aren’t “screen accurate”. I’m glad you’re getting enjoyment from the pics. Lately I’ve gone on a leather jacket rampage. I don’t think that I’ve ever gotten so much enjoyment from them. CheersMichaelson wrote:I also hope you learned something, old friend. There as many of us 'non-screen accurate' gear fans as stitch counters, so never assume there's no interest.
We LOVE what we're seeing!!

The leather on the right (although not an indy jacket) is dark seal goatskin for general comparison.

Rund, thanks for posting these pics. Those jackets look fantastic. You've got me craving a G&B light seal brown goat.
Great pics

EDIT: Got curious about the wait time on ordering a G&B Expo goat,...and looks like the turnaround time is fantastic right about now,...roughly 2 1/2 weeks. BUT, here's the kicker,....a salesperson named Jessica told me that the Expo is only available in dark seal,...on both lamb and goat?!? A friend of mine just received samples for the Expo, and they included light and dark goat, and dark and black lamb.
I always thought that they were available in the light AND dark seal. That's what you stated above, right Rund?? Anyway you could verify that for us? You seem to know the place inside and out. Could ya help a brotha out??

She might be reading what's on their website and catalogue. Many people have ordered the jacket in light seal brown goatskin in the past without problem (it is the most accurate color for Indy). I'll ask tomorrow and see what they tell me. CheersIndyBlues wrote:Rund, thanks for posting these pics. Those jackets look fantastic. You've got me craving a G&B light seal brown goat.
