Their original Wolverine jacket as offered was slightly different than what was seen on screen. Something to do with the color of the stripes. Anyways, they were very accomodating to the fans who wanted it to be perfect and if memory serves me correctly, I don't think there was any additional cost to the change.

I've heard nothing but very good things about this company. The prices are a bit high, but as _ said in so many words, you get what you pay for. You're getting something for your money here, so I hear.

This is a professional company. They're not like that @#$% company from Illinois that made that wanna-be Indy jacket. The list _ posted should tell you something. This company is more like FS in their attention to detail. Some of the vendors here keep sending jackets out with stuff missing and mixed up orders, but I doubt very much you'd be seeing that from Vanson's. You'll just pay more. I'll reiterate though that you get what you pay for.
I'd be totally interested in seeing an Indy jacket from these guys.

I saw all of the measurements they asked for. Now, I assume these diverse measurments are needed because these jackets are tailored to fit you tightly- a custom almost skin tight fit. Now that I think about it, they would HAVE to do this in order to get a good fit. Fedora

Maybe someone with detailed Indy jacket knowledge should propose this question to them.
Yes - good idea! There was a guy who used to hang around here who said he knew everything there was to know - he was even the first to spot just about every innaccuracy ever made before it was even made! What was his name - something about "International Man of Mystery"... He'd be the PERFECT one to talk to these guys!

I'm hearing Quincy Jones' "Soul Bossa" in my head as we speak. Man, I sure hope that Austin figured out that life is too short! :-({|=

the back panel/action pleats is a tricky thing to construct correctly unless you have a wested or expo for guidance.

i was thinking the same thing up here. why not go to a custom leather shop and have it constructed for you? this idea never go anywhere as their eye for detail is not the same unless you are a cow member or indy fan. thats what happened with my local hat project.

The problem is that Vanson actually made the Logan jacket from X-Men, the first movie anyway. They have the same problem with details that any other company has. From putting the snap-back snap(which the movie version did not have) on the collar to the waist stripe pattern being wrong to jackets being made in the wrong leather, no one that I know of has one that looks exactly like the movie.

We butted heads - and he thought everything I said was #### - but he did have passion...

:D I like the buttin' heads deal. It shows us as being picky is all. And convicted in our convictions. And that makes for an interesting forum, in my opinion. Friction is necessary for anything new to present itself. It makes us look again to be sure we had it correct in our appraisels. That is good. Fedora

In the last week i've been throwing around the idea of getting a wolverine jacket - either from wested, that 'PD' company on ebay, or another vendor.

I've loved the jacket since I saw xmen1 but it didnt occur to me to get one. The vanson seems like a marvelous jacket, but the price tag is pretty massive. I was willing to pay the money for a wested + the postage + tax on it, but i wouldnt really be willing to spend as much on a wolverine jacket.

But ####...it's a nice jacket.

It does sound like a great jacket, yeah. But the jacket costs around 560 I think? Which is around 700 australian. Added to that might be around 80 AUS dollars postage, plus probably 100 or more dollars for tax (I got slugged 100 bucks for tax and duties for my wested) - 880 dollars. And god help me if any of my measurements wrong.

Maybe when I start earning a zillion dollars 8) I just figure there'd have to be a good alternative. I do know there's a vendor that's going to make them for less than 400 USD, although that's still a bit much I think. It doesnt actually seem like the jacket would be that hard to replicate - certainly the design seems easier to create than the indiana jones jacket.

If you go through with getting a vanson i'd love to see some pics/your review of it _. I think I might look around locally for some alternatives - either a close enough or maybe there's a company that could make one for me.

After reading lots of comments on 'another' forum about vanson and their jacket, it mostly puts me off getting one of their jackets. They sound like good quality to be sure - although they don't seem to offer the jacket in horsehide for one.

Their customer service seems quite poor - it sounds like wested's service is way over and above vanson - yet wested's jackets are much cheaper. Vanson also seem to cost alot more if you want anything remotely custom fitted that isn't a 'standard' size.

Sounds like their customer service (and jackets) were much, much better 5 years ago. But of recent times...i'm not so sure. It doesnt sound good.

EDIT: Before I posted about a strange email I got back from Vanson, but it turns out it was just someone on their computer stuffing around.
