Wested TOD & Raiders - what's the real difference?

Post by Chewbacca Jones »

OK, let me start by saying, I'm not worried about screen accuracy or anything like that. I've read plenty on the TOD Wested, including what's on their website. Now, I want to know from those who have actually seen the real thing; What are the differences between the TOD and Raiders jackets as made by Wested? In other words, if I grabbed a stock, of-the-rack jacket of each style, what would set them apart?

They don't keep TOD or LC in stock "on the rack" AFAIK.

There are a few Raiders "stock" but not as many as you might think.

The only difference between the Raiders and the TOD that Wested do is the TOD is slightly longer in the body.

i believe that the cut of wested ROTLA and LC are too short in the length and that the TOD length is the standard length for indy's jacket for the trilogy. after buying my first 2 raiders jackets, i've compared them to what i see in the movie and i keep thinking to myself, these jackets are too short.

i can barely see the difference in the length between a TOD and raiders jacket. perhaps LC may have had a shorter jacket but i have yet to watch that movie as much as the other 2. just my opinion.

I agree. Mine is too short even though Wested claims it is the right length per my measurements.

I bought the TOD specifically for the extra length, and don't regret it one bit.

So, length will be the only difference? Because I have a Raiders already, and I basically want to duplicate it but longer and darker. My plan is a TOD in a tall size (custom shortened sleeves), in dark brown lamb.
The modifications to my Raiders were not obvious style changes (no pocket size change, for example). I got rid of the inside pocket, switched to an american zipper, that sort of thing.

Well the length may very well be the only difference that you get (unfortunately).. but it should also have smaller pockets and the side vents should be sewn together further down the jacket and if being real accurate should have rectangular buckles with prongs.

OK, here's a question.. [on the TOD] should the straps be visibly attached to the back panel (now produced with x-box stitch in most cases) or should it be sewn internally and therefor completely hidden. I believe the RoTLA has hidden strap attachments and is one of those things that bugs me about the new reproductions.

Believe what you want, but when I was able to view Raiders in HD the X-Box stitch was there on the front and the back.

Yeah, I'm excited about the Raiders jacket, but looking over the specs posted by Peter, I think I'm going to go for a custom TOD anyways, since I still think 7.5" x 6" pockets are too big, at least for me, and I'm partially to a slightly longer jacket than the raiders, which looks a bit too short for my taste, at least upon viewing most photos uploaded on this forum.

OK, that's good enough for me. You've certainly studied this stuff more than I. Would like to see screen shots though just for fun.
