How long is the whip in this picture?

Post by Mountaineer Lasher »

Please don't laugh at me...

Ok, I need some of you all with better eyes for whip lengths to tell me about how long you think this whip is. I'm convinced from other art (concept and in-game) that it is most likely a stockwhip, but I'm not sure about the thong length. Whipmakers out there, any idea?

I want to have this whip made, that is why I'm asking.

I swear I'm not a huge nerd...

Hmm, if that is from the videogame I'm thinking, its a bullwhip, a guess as to thong length, I'd say 12 feet.

And playing videogames doesn't make you a nerd, trust me, , personally I can't wait to get a 360, along with a new special Nolan bullwhip.

The concept art is cool by the way.

Cheers

In fact, in that game castlevania(the version that I played) on ps2 its a long handled bullwhip, a magic one of couse, :) lol and the whip move that he uses in it is the arrow head strangely enough, it worked well.

laters.

See, I thought it seemed much more like a stockwhip by the way it looks when he is running and it is attached by his side, as well one of the pics of Leon holding the whip in his hand looking upwards (in this pic, the whip is bent dramatically at the keeper which is not possible with a bullwhip). Also, when Rinaldo first gives Leon the whip it is coiled on a table. In this scene it also appears dramatically bent at the keeper. Plus, stock-type whips would have been the style whip used in Europe at this time.

All of that has led me to believe it is suppose to be a stockwhip instead of a bullwhip (which has been protrayed in the past).

Looking at the picture, and knowing Castlevania of old, I have to agree with Jim. It's a bullwhip. The thong is a bit thick to be a stock, (plus the Belmonts know full well that bullwhips work better than stockwhips on the Undead. A little known fact that I plan to demonstrate in an upcoming media production of my own....anyway...)

I'd say the whip pictured is about 10-12 foot, (I'd be more prone to say 11-12.)

As to having it made, I'd talk to Paul Nolan, (who I'm currently working with on my own "Send-'em-back-to-the-void" whip.)

Good luck!
