ROTLA Block/Shaper available?
First time poster, but a data miner for a while. My quest started in 1982, involving seedy hat shops in Chicago’s old south side who proclaimed they had the “real Raider’s hat,” inherited and mail order Stetson “Royale DeLuxes,” and J.C. Penny/Sears Roebucks leather jackets. Disappointed, I gave up and fell from the challenge. Decades later, I stumbled onto “Indygear.” I now wear a Federation, have been talking to Joe Peters Sr., and logically need an Adventurebuilt and Wested.
The efforts and dedication of this group are nothing short of astounding and inspiring. Enough accolades. My question, once upon a time, there was a thread (Fedora specifically) discussing COW members purchasing a Raiders Block that would allow them to weekly block their hat and avoid the nefarious “taper.” Is there such a block for sale? I am one of those “age and distress naturally guys,” but still wishing for a pristine hat shape.
Sincerely,

That is a good question.... It would be great to purchase one from Fedora.... It would be the accurate shape for sure.
I have been looking at the hat shaper offered here: http://www.hatshapers.com/Product%20Pag ... fedora.htm I would want it with no taper at all.... I heard the company can work with you on stuff like that, but I have not contacted them yet.

I remember seeing something in here about this block, again from hatshapers:

Anyone ever try it? Seems pretty nice. Maybe I'll order one and post a review, my AB is due for a reblock.

Yep, if you wear a 7 1/4, order the 7 1/8 block. That way, it will slide into the hat with the sweat still attached. It will pay for itself in reblock fees over the years. And if you have a pure beaver hat, you better figure on that hat lasting you for many many years. Beaver hats are the best hats to buy if you are a serious hat wearer and want your hat to become an old friend that sticks with you. I get attached to hats. I want them to hang around. That is why I only wear pure beaver. Not Indy accurate in felt, but Indy would have wore em'. Fedora

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think you cannot always be sure what felt a vintage hat was made of if it's not said in the lining or sweatband.
A lot of of hats back then were blends so I think you simply have compare the hats with others of which you know which kind of felt was used for them.
Regards,
Henrik
