My Cliffhanger

Post by swright007 »

Fedora asked me to post pics of my hat. Please excuse the varying lighting due to clouds. These pics were taken in haste and better ones can be posted if you would like.

How old is it? There's some serious taper going on, which makes it an excellent ToD hat. 8)

The hat is about 1 year old. The taper is easily adjustable as the hat is almost new. Thank you for your kind words. :)

As far as I can read the cliffhanger is supposed to be a ToD hat.

Yes, Eddie was hired to make Indy's hat for TOD. Their company has been in business for 75 years. Eddie started the company and even made the hats for the original Lone Ranger along with Star Trek, Gunsmoke, and others. I did a lot of research and even talked with some TV stars that wore some of these hats. Sometimes being a photographer doesn't entirely bite. :)

I even showed it to Bruce Boxleitner from Babalon 5 and he said "Wow, thought it was a Stetson."

Actually, this pic:

Looks alot like this hat:

But honestly, if you are going for a TOD look, you need to loosen up that pinch and bring the center dent down about 1/5 inches in the front.

The picture on the website looks like a great Raiders fedora. This hat doesn't look at all like that one. Not to say that is bad, it's a great looking fedora just doesn't match the website's. Just my 2 abes.

I meant to ask in the last post:

Who bashed your hat? Baron's or your own work? Is it the rabbit or beaver?

I am fortunite to own two of Baron's hats....a brown beaver and a dark grey beaver! Very nice hats -- very pliable and perfect for the TOD/LC look! I actually like them much better than my HJ's, but then I have some other custom hats that I like even better than these! Your's looks superb! Like your jacket too! Take all 'Good Care'! W>

one thing that i've noticed about all the baron cliffhangers that i've seen is that the felt does look very rich and thick....very nice quality from the visual sense.

it looks like they didn't use a black ribbon on yours...looks almost like the JP ribbons as far as how they catch the light. its a tadd wider than whats on ford's head but it seems to work for you.

great hat sir!
