Current Availability of Vintage Mk-VIIs

Post by Kodiak »

I know I haven't posted here for awhile, but I'm really starting to need a new bag (current surplus musette is starting to get a bit rough, and is pretty big too) so I was wondering if any bags are currently available. I haven't kept up with any news lately, and I don't know who is sold out and who isn't.

All I know is that I don't want a repro.

And if you have one to sell, let me know. Doesn't have to include strap.

Thanks for reading! Hope you all have been doing well!

You can get original bags from What Price Glory, but the customer service there is hit or miss. Not exactly sure where else to get them here in the states, but maybe you can get one from Endicott's in the UK, which I've heard good things about. My current unissued MKVII came from What Price Glory.

I'd give Endicott's a go. My last original bag from What Price Glory started disintegrating from dry rot within 48 hours of receiving it. But my two mint unissued bags (both a Mk VI and a Mk VII) from Endicott's were in perfect condition.

Cheers!

Well, that's that then. I guess it's easier than I thought to nab a bag from the UK.

You can email him here:

kevin@endicotts.co.uk

I'm going to get in touch with him, about both Mk-VIs and Mk-VIIs. I'll let you know what he says, as far as availability/pricing goes.

Their website is practically useless
http://www.endicotts.co.uk/
No proper browsing, or listing of items...

They have the ubiquitous "If you cannot find what you want on the web-site, then please contact us - or call in." but I prefer to browse without having to talk with the clerk, until I'm ready to buy.

I'll have to type up my desire list and email it in.

Contrast Endicott's listings with...
http://www.sabresales.co.uk/

Everything is listed, with prices, and all that good stuff. Some of the Brit reenactors buy their kit here.

Endicott's for sure. I just got one from him, slightly used. Kevin said he still had a few bumping about.

I recently ordered two NOS unissued Mk VIIs from Kevin and it came to 35 odd quid shipped to me here in Portugal, 3 days from start to finish and they are mint indeed. Just gotta get a strap now and am about to place my order with lost-ark.net

Just got this back from Kevin yesterday:
Kevin Endicott wrote: Hi Andrew,

How are you ?! Re the MKVI / MKVII stock. We've had quite a run on the MKVII again recently with no more ready to go at the moment. The MKVI is available for £20 inclusive.Mint examples only.

Do say "Hi" to everyone on COW for me !! Do you know if Erri is still around-haven't heard from him for a while.I may drop him an e mail later this evening.

Hope this is ok for you.I'll catch you later.

Kev
So... I was actually thinking about a Mk-VI anyway, so I might go ahead and order sometime pretty soon. My DFT brim is on the way (finally), so once my funds recover from that purchase I should have one in the mail.

Thanks for all the help everybody. And... Kevin says hi.

I have a couple of Lost Ark's bag straps they are holding up well. And Dudley is a new dad so needs the support! :)

Todds get good reports and of course there is Noels too.

I've only seen one example of Mag's strap, it looks a lot like Lost Ark's 'all weather' strap sort of raggedy on the edges after a few months of wear.

i think IM's bag strap is bang on in colour. if you have the dvd of raiders and see the picture of indy on the disc....the colour is an exact match. its quite comfy too and the perfect length.
