Source of Preblocked/Bashed Fedoras?

Post by Alathea »

I vaguely remember looking for Indy hat sources ( pre AB and this forum) and I think I came across one selling decent felt hats (maybe Akubras) that were preblocked-am I insane? Of course I could always try bashing my first one as there is a wealth of info here, and pics and techniques, but I guess I just want to know if I was hallucinating. For the time being im looking at getting a Deluxe Fed for now....

Thanks!

The fedora from Lee Keppler is pre-Bashed as is the one from Jimmy Pierce Designs.

Keppler's comes in the Raiders bash, and JPD's can be bashed any way you want it....

the Keppler runs $140 while the JPD runs from $115-$125 depending on the type of felt you request.

I have a JPD and it is a very fine hat. You can request many custom options on the JPD hats as well

I also have a regular Akruba Fed and it, too is a great hat ( the color has been described as greenish, but I think ithe color looks alot like the color of Indy's in the scene in the bar w/ Belloq in Cairo.

If you are getting your first Fed, and want to try your hand at bashing, go with the regular Fed... Don't be scared off by the descriptions of the color! It is a sweet lid and about $50 less than the competition.

For some pics and reviews of the hats. While a Federation Deluxe is a great hat, based on other Akubras Ive owned, a somewhat custom hat would be neat too. Ive got around [Edited 22FEB2007] 250 ( I love unforseen fundage!) so all of them fit into the budget. It would be a daily wear, though, not a costume hat. Do they hold up or is the Fed the hat of choice for daily wear and tear?
