If Wested's regular gives 4 extra inches, how about 80s fit?

I've heard that a standard jacket is given 4 inches of extra room for movement, which in effect would make a size 40 jacket into a size 44.

It's also been said here that an 80s Fit means they make it fit one size smaller, making a size 40 into a size 39.

I'm wondering if either of the above is true? And if the +4 inches is true for 80s Fit jackets, would this mean that ordering a size 40 jacket would mean you'd get a very trim fitting size 44?

A size 40 IS a 40. the extra 4" does not make it a 44. All jackets have some give otherwise you couldn't move. It's just that some jackets have more give than others.

There is a theory that the 80's fit is just cut tighter, but that's not the full story. The 80's fit is actually a slightly different pattern it is also known as the Chris King and (i think 919 but I'm not good with numbers! )

It's slimmer, has a higher yoke (the top panel at the back of the jacket) it is also supposed not to have leather along the edges of the zipper on the inside of the jacket. It also appears to have higher cut, smaller armholes.

All of the above come together to give you 80's fit.

Out of curiousity though, do you think that an 80's Fit would look Screen Accurate on a Last Crusade Jacket?

No way. The LC is a 90s fit!!! (if there is one).
