Just pulled the trigger on an Akubra fed...

Post by Africa Jones »

Thanks for the advice given - spoke with Ron via email to ensure (hopefully) accurate sizing and now just play the waiting game. Might not be a great deal to you all but to me, not being an everyday hat man bar baseball caps and safari hats in Africa it's a new step in a different direction. Looking forward to it.

Cheers!

Africa.

Good choice, strong hat. You get good value for your money.

I agree with KT! For an outdoorsman, who doesn't want to spend a lot for some of the higher priced custom hats, and is gonna actually wear the hat, outdoors, rain or shine, blizzard or monsoon, the Akubras can't be beat. I own the Fed Deluxe, and it has stood up well to the harsh New England weather as well as the constant fiddling I do with it. It's over 3 years old at this point and it looks better now than ever, as far as I'm concerned! Wear your new hat well!!!

Great Hat! I've had mine for only about 3 months, but wear it most every day. Very comfortable, durable hat.

Great choice for a first hat! I'll put it this way - I've sat on mine SO many times and I still do it with a great pleasure...! ;) Of course it's my way of showing THE love. It's only getting better.
And one advice - if it's picture of you, that you are using for your avatar, cut the Akubra's brim after you receive it - it will look much better!

Cheers,

:junior: Raider (waiting for AB, by the way...) :)

Jenny from Hats Direct said in an email to me...

"I'm sorry to say that you are not the first person that we have sent a hat to in Portugal but certainly the first Federation."

So it looks like I'll be setting the trend for Feds in Portugal! Actually you occasionally see old men wearing tweed type trilbies, man will they be jealous of my stove pipe and bashed hat :D

Counting down the days...

If they follow their usual practice, you're going to be amazed just how quickly the hat will be in your hands! :D

GOOD choice, and well worth the wait.

HIGH regards! Michaelson

yeah i have to agree with the others here, the akubra is the hat for being able to take abuse. mine constantly is getting rained on and has lasted a couple of trips breaking brush in the rain forests. the funny thing is with the akubra the more abuse it take the better it seems to look.

Well the fed arrived and it a perfect fit thanks to Ron's help at the other end. Now later this evening after having re-read all the bashing advice I'll tilt a glass of something strong to my lips and have a go.

Then get the camera ready...
