Holster question

Post by Kaplan »

So, Todd's reg holster is $20 but doesn't have the details you see on the screen.
Todd's deluxe holster is nearly $80 but comes out color corrected and detailed
Adventure supply's holster is $75 and looks the same except without the color correction.

HERE'S the QUESTION.....

Is there a decent holster out there between $20 and $75-80??????

That's quite a price gap there.

Look on auction sites for well used Webley holsters.

They're out there...

I'm going to get a 4" barrel s&w. Will a webley holster fit? Or are they all really webley holsters?

Wouldn't it be possible to get the $20 holster and sorta color and finish it yourself. I've been thinking about this for a while now, but can't really afford to try it ( both time and money-wise).

GC, todd's budget holster is truly a great bang for the buck. i believe the only differences are:

- the deluxe holster has no open screws that attach to the belt loop so that you do not scratch a real gun's finish
- the end of the holster on the deluxe is covered so that the barrel is not exposed
- there are no embosed lines on the budget holster and it may be a different grade leather than the deluxe....but the leather on the budget holster is still quite nice.

is your s&w a real mccoy or a prop? if its a prop, the budget holster will suit your needs perfectly. if its real, you might as well get some good leather to keep it in and go with the deluxe. my 2 cents for ya.

A while back, someone posted that todd sold them the pre- cut materials to make a holster... all they had to do was stitch it up. I believe it was at a substantial discount.

Anyone remember that thread?

hey coronado,

i recall that thread but i think it was a complete budget holster and todd just sold the fella some extra leather to either cover the barrel hole or to cover up the exposed screws on the inside of the holster (or maybe both). i think the extra leather was free but the budget holster was bought at the regular price.

i guess this is a job for vp to find you the thread........

Maybe, but it wouldn't be as good of a fit as the Raiders holster. However, if your going to get a real S&W and especially if you plan to actually use the holster I would recommend the Western Stage Props holster. Its made by Alfonso's of Hollywood, who makes top quality gun leather for folks in the real world.

Yeah, I'll be using a real firearm that I have yet to buy. So, I don't want to scrtach the finish. Thanks guys, I'll look at western stage props again..when I can find the link.(is it on the main site or is this a job for super VP?)

Is the WSP's holster one with a plugged bottom like the Todd deluxe?
I see the "lost ark" brand, although $50 and good looking, does not have a capped bottom.

Here's the link George. http://www.westernstageprops.com/miva/m ... y_Code=IJC

I'm glad you mentioned scratching the finish. Thats the advantage of buying a real holster made for a real gun. Its engineered to safely and securely carry a firearm. What model of S&W are you thinking of getting?

I'm thinking about getting a 4" .38 special hand ejector. But if I can find anything better in the mean time I will change my mind. :D

My suggestion is, look on ebay, I found there my Raider and LC Holster, old, used holsters for nearly 30$, that´s better than a new replica for maybe 75$, just my suggestion

Plus, those used ones on Auction sites are Pre-Weathered, with natural patina.

Natural patina. That's a great phrase, and used a lot with antique furniture and the like....

I just read an article in the April 2007 issue of Hot Rod magazine that discussed the 'embracing' of natural patina on old cars as being a 'good thing'. :-k

In my day, we used to call it rust.

But I digress....

I just bought a Keppler raiders holster off of EBAY for $35, so it is possible to find good stuff there. They also constantly have Webley holsters on there in all levels of condition.... :D

I just picked up the new six-gun..and she's beautiful.
S&W 38 special. 4"bbl medallion grips (a little holster ware)
I wanted a 45acp, but for the price I paid, I can be satisfied and forget about it.

Thanks for the advice on the holster question guys. I'll see what I can do.
Also, if anyone is interested in pics, let me know.
