Class of 99 Wested

Post by PLATON »

Just found some photos of an old 99 Wested and thought to post them here so that we can notice the differences between that and the modern Wested

Image
Look at the size of that collar!! Also, look at where the zipper ends.

Image
Sleeves seem to be very wide around the elbow area

Image
Yoke seam does not appear to be higher than the arm seam. Notice how long are the side straps

Image
Hmm... screen accurate action pleat! Big pocket with rounded bottom corners and placed fairly high in comparison with modern westeds.

Image
Notice how wide is the storm flap. The pocket flap is not scalloped but it's big enough. Also, those rounded pockets again.... Most importantly, look how pointy is that collar!!!

Holy COW that's a long pull-strap!!! My Pre-D cowhide was a Christmas of '01 so it's off by 2 yrs...and MUCH more accurate!! They came a long way in just 2 yrs...I assume YOU guys had a lot to do with that!!

Just figured I'd throw these up, as they seem pretty relevant to the discussion. These are a couple of pics of my old Wested which I no longer own. It was also purchased in 1999. The last pic is of the old Wested next to my current Wested (which was new at the time, circa 2003). The older jacket was lambskin, originally dark brown but I distressed the heck out of it, thus the much lighter color. (The newer jacket is also Dark Brown Lambskin) Both are Raiders jackets. Feel free to disect and discuss!

These pics are very interesting. It looks like the current wested pockets are an inch or so lower than the class of 99 jackets. I think I like the lower pockets myself, not sure if that is screen accurate though.

Well, I thought I would go a head and chim in here as well. Here is my old Wested from back around 2000, maybe 99, I can't remember. However, as you can see, it's the old pattern. This was the very first wested I ever owned. All the specs on this jacket were recommended by Michaelson. It's a dark brown cowhide, Raiders pattern, with a cotton lining.

I have quite a few Westeds from this period. They are all very different from each other, even the ones that are supposed to be "Raiders" jackets.
