Indiana.....Buchman???

Lately, the Canadian cable channel TVTropolis has been airing reruns of the sitcom Mad About You (a cute show on it's own) but I have seen a few episodes where the main character Paul Buchman (Paul Riser) has been wearing a very Indy-esque leather jacket.

I can't find any stills, but it is a distressed brown hide, with accurate collar, pocket style and placement, action pleats with draw straps etc. The main differences are that the sleeves are zippered, like a motorcycle jacket, and the wind-flap is on the inside of the jacket, behind the zipper. It's actually a pretty nice lookin jacket, and would serve as a close-enuff. Check local listings!

Sounds like the Type440 or G-8 jacket.

VERY close (!!) but no straps on the wrist and poppers on the pockets instead of put-thru buttons

i'm not too crazy about that jacket....what is that rabbit hide? whats with all the panels?

It´s goatskin and the panels on the sleeves are reinforcement patches for the elbows.

they also have panelling where the cargo pocketst are. not my cup of tea to have a jacket made with a large number of different hides/different bodies......then again, i fancy TOD hats more than the raiders hats

I remember Paul's jacket on the show, which I think remained part of his wardrobe until the end. I loved the show, and I always liked his jacket. My friend has a jacket much like it. It doesn't say on the label, but I think it's goatskin, from Old Navy. It wouldn't surpirise me if Paul Reiser picked his up at Old Navy, and the jacket design evolved into the one my friend now has.

I just saw an episode of Mad About You and I had a look at his jacket. It definitely has straps on the wrist. The only difference to the Type 440 US Wings offers are the press studs on the pocket flaps.

Paul´s jacket IS a Type440.

But I´ve noticed that Paul wears different Type 440 style jackets in other episodes.
