Pecards, Harmful chemicals??
I noticed on the label of my pecards dressing that it contains petroleum distillates. Wouldn't that harm the leather? Anyone else notice this? :

I'm not much on remembering my chemistry
besides, most of my chemical knowledge came from watching too much MacGyver....
BUT, having handled and used Pecards for a couple of years now, I think the "petroleum" that the ingredients are referring to are like the compounds you'd find in Vasaline Petroleum jelly....in fact, the stuff has similar consistency, so I would be willing to bet money that's what it is....
If it was the OTHER type of petroleum (like as in fuel for combustible engines), then yes, it would be problematic for ANYTHING it came in contact with....but, I don't think it is.

Pecards is pH balanced. From what I've been told, it has very little of the product you're referring to, and it is only a base for the product. For complete details, contact Pecards directly and they'll give you the full 'dope' on the product. The problems you're referring to are not inherent to any of the Pecards leather dressing products.
