Finding a Chest Size for a Wested

Post by Castor Dioscuri »

I'll be ordering another Wested, as my current order of a non-Indy jacket is currently being cut, and I have a question regarding chest sizes for a Wested:

My blazer/shirt size is a 38, and so I'm assuming that the same would go for a the jacket? However, do you guys recommend ordering a size or more up (for example, should I order a size 40 despite being a 38), or should I just go with the 38?

Fyi, my current jacket being made is a 38, but I want the fit on the Indy to be perfect, albeit a little loose for that screen-accurate look, and to give me some room to bulk up into.

Or order an 80s fit?
I have the same questions.

For me I am a size 43, which does not exist. So 42s are a bit tight, and 44s just a bit too big. So I went with the 44 and got the 80s cut to offset that and I think it fits pretty good.

Hmm, does anyone think ordering a size 40 (w/ 80s cut) for a chest size 38 would be a little too big? I've seen some of the pics posted here, and while I do want a good fit, some of the custom made jackets just look a little too form-fitting imo.

i've ordered the same size as my suit jacket and wested has always been bang on with the 80's cut. my first and last were 42's which makes for a nice close fit as the jacket was intended. my second was a 44 which fits really well on the shoulders but the rest is a little loose (a little too non-indy for my taste but makes for a great jacket to have layers under).

i say go pick the best fitting blazer that you have, the blazer that compliments your form quite well and feed that size to wested and they'll do the rest.

cheers

It all depends. I usually would take a 38 in most chest sizes but after owning Indy jackets realised I am prob closer to a 36 for a more fitting jacket.

Just send your measurements and request the type of fit you want.
