Wested Goat - Motorcycle Approved.

I was in a motorcycle accident a couple of weeks ago while wearing my goatsking Wested. Unfortunately, the bike was a total loss, but the jacket came through nearly unscathed. There is some slight scuffing on the foldover area of the left adjuster strap (where most of my weight came down onto the road) and some white discoloration on the right sleeve (from where I apparently hit the mail truck). Aside from that, there is no evidence that I was in an accident at all.

My body, however, tells a different story, but I'm healing. I think I'm done with motorcycles now.

I hate proving my wife and mother right.

Glad to hear your healing up ok. If you wanted to distress you jacket I'm sure there was an easier way! That's pretty amazing that your jacket didn't suffer much damage, and from what it sounds like maybe some pecards would fix up the discoloration on the right sleeve. Best of luck in the healing process!

The hitting the mail truck quote was kinda funny the way it was typed, kind of non chalaunt (SP?) Im glad you are ok, you shouldnt be so quick to give up on your bike. Get back on that horse and show her who is boss!

good to hear you're okay captain ron and that nothing worse happened to you. its also good to hear that wested saved you from some road rash.

IMO the wested would not be ideal for riding a motorcycle as i can see it balooning with the air flow unless it is cut really tight (at least it would be for me). the leather seems tough enough and you've proved that.

I crashed in a lamp post with my bicycle in September '05, the post almost fell over and the lamb got two scratches to the left sleeve but nothing else.

Somehow, crashing into inanimate street furniture on a push bike seems slightly less adventuresome

Actually it was pretty cool, I was on my way to get myself measured for a white tie and had a bit of velocity. Suddenly the next curve is a bit tighter than I expected and I ended lying on the ground with a sore right thigh and a scratched Wested. Got up and whoa, the bike is OK and the post bent from a 90 degree angle to a 60 degree.

Thanks to everyone for the kind words. The accident was my fault.

I was riding in an area with which I was unfamiliar, and I was paying more attention to street names than to traffic lights. My light had gone red seconds before I went into the intersection. There were two lanes of traffic coming into the intersection from my right side, and car in the nearer lane saw me and stopped in time, but the mail truck in the farther lane did not. My bike hit the front left side of the mail truck, and I went over the hood. I can't say for sure exactly what hit what, but I think my right arm took out his mirror, which explains why I have white on my sleeve, and why the mirror was laying on the street beside me.
I was able to limp away, and I actually rode the bike home from there. I came away with a sprained ankle, deep bruising on my left hip and lower back, and other bumps and scatches. I didn't think the damage to the bike was all that bad. I had to borrow a pipe wrench from the firemen on the scene to bend my pegs, brake pedal, and shift lever back to use them. But when the insurance adjuster made his estimate for repairs, the total came out to more than they were willing to pay to have it fixed. I was planning on selling it anyway.

I actually did have that problem with my old lambskin (which was not 80's fit). But, with my 80's fit goat, not so much. The only real problem while riding is the collar flapping.
