Web belt hue and cry

Post by schwammy »

Lee Keppler's Raiders web belt is a purple sort of color. Would anyone who has Noel Howard's Raiders web belt be able to comment on the color?

I may be alittle out of line on this but... if you need aweb belt, why not just go to your local army surplus, get a light tan belt for $3 and dye it dark brown???

I bought the NH Web Belt while in England. It is VERY light in comparison to the Lee Keppler. In fact, there was almost no contrast between my web belt and Raiders pants. It didn't have a purple hue and it looked nice and distressed (maybe too faded though?). I did what Dalexs recommends: I dyed the belt a darker brown and now it looks perfect!

Save yourself the trouble, go to Soldier City and buy as many as you want. They're cheap, and they're the exact same dark brown as Indy's hat band. In fact, I challenge you to find a more perfect dark brown webbing belt. The link is below, but they don't have a picture at the moment.

Lee's belt does have more purple in it. I was shocked when I saw it in person and mentioned to Lee and Rundquist if this was accurate. If you guys don't know Lee, he is extremely meticulate and has a good eye for detail. There proof was looking at some of the screen shots. But I believe the Starz photo is definitive:

Is Indy Skip or any of my fellow Boston-ites around? All the Army-Navy stores in the Neighborhood seem to have closed or moved. Any of you guys know where the nearest one is?

Hey Renderking,

I would think that you might be able to one from Hiltons Tent City down the street from The Boston Garden, oops, i mean The Fleet Center
(sorry, I'm dating myself...). They always seemed to have everything of that sort.

Thanks, Dalexs. I never thought of dying a belt. That'd be a money-saver, though not necessarily a time saver. For that matter, I never thought of dating myself. Think of the money one could save doing that!

No, your right Dalexs, it'll always be the Garden, and I'll always say The Capital Centre. Even though, just a few weeks ago, they tore it down for guess what... a shopping mall. :x I was really sad to see it go. It was great going 5 minutes away to catch a hockey game. I even got the chance to play a scrimmage there. Now that's a memory.

And as far as dating myself, Schwammy, I'll just say that I'm glad I'm now a married man.

But you guys are right...you'd save a bundle and never screw it up!

I'll have to check and see if they are still there. All the ones in the Cambridge area have closed. I'll report in if I find anything out.

Yea... I still call it the Garden, too. Never should have torn that ol' barn down.

Hey Renderking! In MA there are several Army/Navy stores that I cruised originally looking for a MKVII. I got in touch with one gentleman that gets most of his gear from shows and mail from other vendors. I would require a little research since I moved to find him.

I also have a buddy that reenacts Rev-War. Let me email him and see if anyone he knows is a "local" vendor.

Didn't there used to be annual shows at the Manchester Armory?
